Lack of a blood trail has NEVER been an issue with these heads. Lack of a total pass-thru HAS. I'm 2/11 in total pass-thrus with this head (2 blade). I also have an "unknown" out there (two, actually).

After seeing the blood trails on the deer I've recovered.....and from the expert opinion of the tracking dog handler I had here last Saturday (who is convinced the deer we were tracking is not dead)....I have to think that "maybe" they didn't die at my hands. Injured? Surely.....but the tracker said there "might" be 2-1/2 ounces of blood on the trail we were on. That's nothing to a deer. The "unknown" from '07 was a similar trail.

BH's fault? No way. "Marginal hit"? Surely.

In each instance, though....I have to wonder if I'd have gotten a complete pass-thru with a fixed BH. Being able to discern/read your arrow at the POI is nothing to sneeze at. I wish I had that information EVERY time.
Man, with that track record, you really should just ditch these suckers and go another root. Tracker dogs and all that. It's suppose to be fun. Just try a good fixed for a while and see what happens. You won't have gaping holes on shots, but you'll have blood on the ground and dead deer. If I had the luck you've had with wounded deer I'd be looking to change. Hey, but what do I know... I've only been at this for 38 o 39 years.

Admittedly it was a close shot from ground level, but if you notice the deer I shot last week... I shot through a pretty heavy section of the shoulder plate and out the back side of a 225 pound live weight deerwith 62 or 63or so fps KE and a fixed blade.

Everybody's a legend online, David.

Glad you've never wounded or lost a deer in all that time. I changed to a mechanical after a perfect shot with a fixed head produced a VERY minimal blood trail.

And David.....in 38 years....I'd like to know the "real" numbers of faux paus you have, bowhunting (wounded or lost animals). If you say "none"...I WILL call you a liar.

It doesn't matter what I say. You've alreadycalledme a liar. I will tell you you're over your limit for a while. I won't say none, but you've exceeded meI think.

That's the spirit. Because you don't want to hear what I have to say you want to accuse everyone of bending the truth "On Line". I don't lie.

I like pass thrus and if I start not getting them on deer that have good shot placement, then I will go back to Muzzy or Slick trick...it's that simple.

After last night, I am four for four with Rages this season, all of the complete pass-trus.This last one made it about 100 yards before droping. It ws a perfect hit, she must have been running on pure adrenelin!
The other odd thing I noticed, was that the exit hole was much smaller than the entry hole, must have hit a rib on the way out.

I didn't call you a liar David. I said if you said you didn't have any mistakes/wounded deer/lost deer.....I'd call you one. You never did answer the question, though.

You've created this online persona that's bigger than life and above all reproach. We'll call him "Super Dave". Super Dave is a sanctimoniuos braggart that revels in belittling others. He's done it all in hunting.....better than everyone else.

People around here generally like regular David. I like David. I don't care for Super Dave OR regular David when he's riding sup's sac.

The only ones who know the answer to my question are you, God and some animal corpses. Even Super Dave dont know.

I'm human....and I have a couple of "unknowns" out there. Did my BH choice have anything to do with the scenarios? I don't know. I am smart enough to try and learn from the things that occur in the woods every year. I'm working on something right now that I think will help.

I really don't need to be preached to by a fictional character.

Tell David I said "Hi"....and congrats on his OH buck.

If your arrow went where you thought It did Jeff that should be a dead deer. If that broadhead did slide along the side of the rib cage like a few thought, I'd say BH failure.

Hey..........What are doing posting on a rage topic.........[8D][8D][8D]

put it this way, I have killed 24 deer with a bow. I have lost 5 deer in 17-18 yrs of bow hunting, all of those were with a fixed blade head and they were due to poor shots. It happens to everyone sooner or later...no matter what head you shoot.
