I live in what others call the land of the GIANTs & yes we have them. N.E. Iowa & N.W. Ill.. I guess I average a couple "seeing" every year BUT not a single BUCK this year while on stand.

I refer to a mature buck as a 3 1/2 year old. This year I have seen 4 and had one in range. Over the next ten days that number should triple. As far as seeing 4 1/2 and older its usally 1-2 a year. Have seen one this year.

Depending on what you refer to as a mature buck. On our property, its a 4 1/2 year old. Usually, I'll see maybe 2 a year. This is counting before season when these guys are usually more visible in the fields.

I have been lucky, I have not had the oportunity to see very many while bowhunting the last few years. It only takes one to make a mistake. This year #3 was the unfortunate one. The first two I rattled in and they ended up smelling me. I hunted 17 times this season (I think), saw three mature bucks, and tagged the third 11/01.

Every buck was seen while hunting.

If were all calling a 3.5 mature then I've seen 1 so far this year. Usually I'll see at least 2 to 3 3.5's a year (at least I think there 3.5's). How often do I see 4.5+? Some years I'll see a couple 4.5's and then the next couple years I'll go with out. I'd say about 1 per year.

I used to see maybe 1 or 2 a year. Then one morning 4 years ago I had 3 duringthe first hour of light all within bow range, but no shot. The next day I had 3 more on a different stand. Ever since that season, I have taken more days off work and hunted harder.

I know on average Istill only see maybe 3-4 on average a year. Last year it was 4. This year so far it's been 3, while I have seen one 4 different times. I consider a mature deer to be at 3.5. 2 years ago I only saw 1 good buck. I'm pretty new to this whole idea of trophy hunting, but I'm learning with each new experience.

You won't believe me when I say this...but I live in Illinois and I see one or two a year. Now ask me how many gosh darn mature does I see a year. My area is so over hunted for bucks its not even funny. It's very rare to see a buck over 3 and half years old. [:@]

I feel your pain! I average about 4-6 mature deer a year in a stand. When I say mature I'm referring to 4 1/2+.

Over the last couple of seasons, I've averaged seeing a mature buck at least a dozen times. They're not all the same ones, but I see some repeatedly.....just can't catch up with them!

Got busted sneaking into spots by two of the 4.5 year olds. One was the big 4x5. Both bucks, I knew I was pushing it and got burnt !! :(

1 a season. However this year I have seen more bucks early then ever before. Hoping the rut here in Michigan picks up real nice this week with snow and highs around 42 all week!!

Never. I hunt in Michigan. The biggest I've seen are some nice 2.5 year olds. I'm pretty happy this year, I've seen 7 different bucks, just not mature bucks.

I may be a sad example of a big buck hunter, but reality in the NH woods for me is about 4 in 25 years...
I have killed a fair share of 2 1/2 year olds and under and of course many Does.
I havechanged my tactics a bit more this year and my deer sighting have been up, except in the big buck catagory.
So who knows maybe I'll get 25 in the next 4 years, as I am optimistic in my newer approach??!!!;)

For the record......

I began bowhunting in '05. I saw ONE 2.5 yr old that season*.

I saw three 2.5yr olds in '06....and killed two of them. I saw two 3.5 yr olds in 'o6......and killed one of them.*

I saw NO 2.5yr olds in '07. I saw NO 3.5yr olds in '07. I saw ONE 4.5 yr old in '07 (*same deer from previous seasons, above) and I killed him. I saw exactly 3 other bucks in '07 in 48 sits.....all of them being 1.5 yr olds.

So far in '08....I've seentwo 2.5 yr olds (70" and 100"deer, respectively); ONE 3.5 yr old (110" deer); Zero 4.5+. I've seen probably 12+ different 1.5 yr olds, this year.

I've been out 55 times.

Last year I saw none. This year I have seen 4, missed one. Three of them being the other night in an hour and a half. One of which was a bruiser. (he wasn't the one that I missed)
