High of like 48 on Saturday. Getting colder, so the bucks should start rutting here soon. I saw rutting activity when it was colder, but when it warmed back up, the bucks just didn't move as much.

The does(not the bucks)will make the call as to when the ruts kicks in I bet.

Probably. Yesterday evening, I saw a button buck trying to mount a doe lol She just shook him off. It looked funny. Thedoes might be about ready, or the button buck was justfeeling his oats lol.

I'm next door in PA and am just now seeing some scrape activity in my area. At least where I hunt, we usually don't start seeing a lot of rut activity until the second week in Nov. Heck, we just saw two monster bucks in a field the other night, running together. Seems like pre-rut yet.

I've also been seeing alot of scrapes. I'm sure when it gets colder again, the bucks will start moving. They were moving last week when it was cold in the morning. They were nudgeing some does, and responding to rattling, and grunting.

I just got back. Scrapes every where. Saw numerous bucks at mid day trolling through wide open fields between woodlots. Saw one real nice 10 point worrying a doe but not enough to get pushy. He just walked behind her, she'd stop, he'd stop 10 feet back. Back and forth they wandered. Tons of deer dead on the highway going to and returning out of Ohio. All scrapes freshened, big rubs,... just a perfect time to be out there. I like it better than the down right frenzy of the rut. They're broken up and moving. Probably more likely to come to a call and horns now too. My buck was all swelled up and had crapped all over his hocks and but. He was a stinker.

Tomorrow morning should be great. Cold and November 11th is supposed to be one of the best days. Since this is my 8th year of hunting, I haven't killed too many bucks. I've killed 4, 2 on Nov.6th, 1 on Nov.7th, and the other on Nov.12th. I'd say the 1st 2-3 weeks are all good. Except this year because it got pretty warm there for about a week. Now it's cold again, so they'll be moving tomorrow morning.
