First hour in the AM or last hour in the PM? I see a lot more deer in the last hour of an afternoon hunt. BUT... there's something magical about that first hour and the feeling of catching that big boy creeping his way back to his bedding area . That and watching the woods come to life is really cool. More deer in the PM for me, but I enjoy that first hour in the AM more.

During the rut I prefer the morning, just because if he makesa mistake, the mistakeseems to be him staying out to late. Being he may be in an area he does not know, gives me the best odds.

First hour in the AM or last hour in the PM?
Both I'd have to say. Depends on my location of the stand also. Some are better In the AM then PM and vice versa.

I love both too, but if I had to choose - I'd take morning. I love the mornings for many reasons...and over the years have had ALOT more sightings/success where I hunt in the am.

Your last two posts seem to be very similar. Both reference the timeliness of hunts. No big deal just happened to notice it. Most of the bigger bucks that I've taken have been in the afternoon...so I'm taking the last hour of daylight.

I prefer mornings and Field and Stream said that with radio collared bucks they moved more in the morning than in the evening during the rut.

I'd go with the morning. Always had better luck in the morning, and it's my most favorite time to hunt anyway. I've killed deer in the evening including a buck, but I just like the morning better.

I see the most deer in the morning. For Me it seems I see the big bucks between 12-2 middle of the day. I've killed 3 130" inch bucks, and all of them were in the evening during the rut, one was at 2:30 Nov 20th, second was 4:00 Nov 6th, and third was at 4:30 Dec 1stbut I think I'd still take My 7-2 hunt in the morning, then the 2-6 hunt in the evening.
