Body is just too big to be a button buck, and the indentations on the head look to be somewhat big around. I would agree that it is a buck that broke off it's antlers. He's no 4.5 year old, but it's older than a button buck.

like schultzy said, those look like antler bases, not buttons, i think he broke off both main beams at the base

I would have to agree, it looks like a buck. It looks to have so jewels hanging and buttons or something on its head. It looks like he is freshing up a scrape to me.
