Default Top Ten List - Reasons to Still Be Looking for your Dead Deer

Let's sticky it to the top. Every time someone gives up too early, refer them to this thread.

Start your Suggestions for the list.

I will go first.

1. The deer is most likely dead or dying.

3. The animal deserves the best effort you can give to recover it, if you shot it, you should give it your all to recover it.

You don't have to worry about your deer getting eaten by the coyote's - because they are already full from eating all the other deer HNI members quit looking for prematurely[&:]

Seriously, as a hunter its your ethical responsibility to exhaust all efforts to find a deer you shot, if you confirm a hit.

I dont know if it will make the top ten, but I think:

You can learn from every deer you recover. Whether it be about shot placement, the area they like to go after being hit, or other possibilities.

You haven't looked everywhere yet. If you had you would have found it by now.

If you had the time to shoot it, then you better make the time to look for it.
