RE: where did the thrill go
It can get to be a grind, with all the early mornings and tough days. Especially if you have several days back to back of not seeing much. Then it gets kind of frustrating, but I don't ever think I'll lose the "thrill". Just like playin' ball back whenI was in school. The 3 hour practices and 7 am shoot arounds before classes from October to April was a grind too, but on game day, man I couldn't have been more pumped up.

RE: where did the thrill go
This year I've felt way more focused than pumped. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that my son is old enough to gun hunt. I've been spending more time getting gear in order and ensuring all my stuff is right. I spent more time cleaning trails and ensuring stands are in order, etc. I guess I didn't have time to get pumped per se.

RE: where did the thrill go
I skipped it because i moved from Ky to NC i did this in sept just before season started in NC you must have hunter safty to hunt. I did not and it was to late to get it anywhere. So i had to by law. I did some scouting and stuff like that.
ORIGINAL: 125py ORIGINAL: bigtim6656 Last year i was pumped it was my third year out of the last four hunting. I skipped the year before last. I was pumpedall year i missed a spike the first daythen i missed a 9 point the last week of oct. i was pumped even when it hit20 degrees and wind. This yearsome of the thrill about going hunting. It is like i am less pumped justlike a normaleveryday thing. I wonder if some of it is the fact last year was the first year i have hunted with my bow. i still love the hunt. Though it has been a hard season so far. i have saw deer twice when hunting out of 14 hunts. Only one was in shooting distance and she was running full speed. She did noteven stop for more then 2 seconds. Maybe that is it. But even opening day it was differnt. Am i lossing mywant to hunt or is this just normal as the yearsgoby. This is my fifth year hunting i would think i would still have that thrill when going.DO not get me wrong i am stillobsessive about hunting itis alli think about. Just that heart pumpingchest pounding feeling when going in. Maybe it will come back when i drop a deer. Has this ever happen to you |
RE: where did the thrill go
Skip a YEAR!!
Hunting hard is hard work but you gotta believe good things are gonna happen everytime you go out. When I got out of bed this AM at 3:30 I was disapointed that the wind was gusting 30mph and I had to go back to bed. |
