Although PETA does suck, this type of thing only sheds negative light on us unfortunately.

lmao

Some of you should pull the sticks out of your asses and laugh for a change. This is funny.

If PETA or even the fence-riders for that matter have a problem with it, tough cookies.

They killed birds, and PETA does 'sux.'

Wash, I agree. Some of us being politically correct all the time doesn't help either. PETA got a name for themselves not by being quiet and polite. They are in your face. They get noticed. We tend to sit back and take all the attacks dished out to us. I say BS, we should be recognized too. We don't have to be as extreme as PETA, but we don't have to cower in fear either.

+1.

Regardless of whether its funny or not it shines a negative light on us as it make it look as though hunters are partially doing what they do just in spite of PETA. I actually didn't know it went through people's mind to do things like this after a hunt.

standing up for hunter's rights and bashing another organization are two totally different things. We hate when PETA comes throwing stickers and pamphlets around us, but, in all reality they are just stating what they believe to be right. They don't come at us with stickers that say "Hunter's Suck!"

Really?

Do you honestly think that any active PETA members think to themselves "You know, those hunters are just doing what they think is right. I think I'll back off of them." Hell no they don't.

They don't give a rat's ass. They're out there to abolish what we love to do, by any means necessary. One picture of a pile of birds and the words "PETA SUX" isn't going to mean squat to them.

I suppose Rosa Parks should've just gotten off the bus that day because white folk' didn't like her where she sat.

wahoohunter 10-26-2008 10:39 AM

RE: PETA tidbit worthy of sharing!!!!

No, I don't think PETA members think that but I also don't go by the mentality "if you can't beat them join them." I was always raised to hold myself to a higher standard than something I felt was wrong and not lower myself to that level.

Oh, the Rosa Parks example could be thrown into relevance here I suppose. But, what she did, like most hunters with respects to PETA, was just sit where she sat because she felt it was right. Did she sit there and hold up a sign that said "Whites Suck!" or "Make Me Move!!"? No, she just did what she knew was right and did it in the name of equality. If we just hunt and don't pay PETA any mind, then they don't have anything to throw back at us. Very few hunters have a successful harvest and then go on to think "YEAAH!!! PETA'LL LOVE THIS! WE'LL SHOW THEM!" Acting ignorant and giving them something to talk about does just that, it gives them things to use against hunters and gives them more to use to keep when attacking our sport.

A nice pile of birds....... fine( and agreat picture on its own). It must have been a damn good day in the field, and makes me miss the dove hunts I went on as a youth.

The beercans "on the hunt"do not in any way shape of formshed a good light to gun hunters, as well as thathuge statement "peta-sux" written in empty shotgun shells.

The photo was taken in poor taste, and in my opinionvalidates petasmovement and ideas, that hunters are beer drinking, animal killing fools. This is exactly the way peta wants hunters to act. I feel thefewthat entertain this type of exposureshouldthink again. Political correctness?...I think not. Tough cookies?.....that is a shame. This is not the way I wan't others to look at the hunting community.

Dont have to tell me. Ive seen the same concept play out in many situations. Personally i think they suck so bad they dont even deserve the attention from ethical law abiding hunters such as ourselves. I can also appreciate your standpoint. No harm, no foul.

What is PETA going to say about us after seeing this picture that they haven't already said?

Hunters are a bunch of backwoods alcoholic redneck murderers.

This picture isn't suddenly going to inflame them and cause them to work twice as hard to ban our sport. They'll look at it, cry a little, and go eat a salad.

Its a funny picture and I'm glad some of you have the balls to NOT worry about being politically correct and cower at the thought of the anti-hunting crowd suddenly thinking poorly of us.

Nice spin, lol.

I don't think anyone is worried about what peta thinks at this point...but they would love to prove to everyone else(not just antis, but non hunters alike)that we as a community are "backwoods alcoholic redneck murderers". That doesn't further anything that ispositive in our world.

Ah yes, cowardly.:eek:We all should grow balls and pound our chests, drink our beer, and show the world we can really shoot alot of rounds(especially while drinking) and if we really put our heads together and think...we can spell "peta-sux" in shotgun shells.

My thoughts exactly. Is the picture funny, yup sure is, happy now?. I've dealt with people criticising my choice to hunt all my life and if anything id like them to see a picture that re-enforces the positive representation of what i do and why i choose to do it. TBH, i understand you dont care what PETA thinks of hunters but the scope of this is far beyond that.

Its just not the kind of thing that gives me comic relief, so be it if i have no balls.

Steve.

If you don't find humor in this thread, don't get involved....Pretty simple, you don't like the story line, don't read the book....

RE: PETA tidbit worthy of sharing!!!!

Was unaware it wasnt proper to disagree with the creator of a thread. I dont have a problem with stepping out. One parting comment though, one day you might regret not showing interest in the public perception of hunters when your rights to hunt are taken away by the law makers that have finally had enough of the "redneck murderers" with no regard for anyone but themselves. Its one thing to look at it and laugh, its another thing to blatantly not care how we as hunters are viewed. I know i want to keep my hunting rights for years to come, so my kids, and my kids kids can enjoy what i do. I have a problem with your view, not you, dont take this personally.

Steve.

RE: PETA tidbit worthy of sharing!!!!

Nothing personal, it's all good!!!!! Everyone has the right to their opinion....I was not telling you to get out of the thread and that's not how I meant it at all.....It's kinda like this, I don't like chinese food....therefore I don't go tochinese restraunts!!!!

I see your point, truly I do....I am not in that picture and you would never find me in one like that....However, I thought it was funny...Nothing more nothing less!!!!!! I don't believe that alone will have our hunting rights taken away!!!!!!! This isjust my opinion!!!!! In the big picture that someone brought up, this postwon't have an affect in the least, one way or the other IMO!!!!!

I am sure if this post is not suited for this site it will be deleted!!!!

StrikeTrue 10-26-2008 04:49 PM

RE: PETA tidbit worthy of sharing!!!!

Thats more of a response i can relate to. Obviously this picture is not going to single handedly contribute to the detriment of hunting as a whole but im just more or less sick of being stereotyped as a hunter and these types ofthings only allow that stereotype to flourish. PETA sucks, they always will. They have no knowledge of the history of humankind and the fact that without the consumption of animals none of them would even roam this earth. What they dont realize is that without the luxuries that society has afforded them, they too would be forced to fend for and feed themselves.

Steve.
