sounds like i have thrown 20 bucks away in a month. I guest i will start using them longer. what sucks is the fuel runs out at 12 hours then you buy a refill one tank three pads so you end up with more pads then you will use

The entire pad will turn white. I just threw one away after about 6 hours of use.
You can get refil butane cartridges by themselves. They use them for curling irons and what not. They are the same cartridge, even says Thermacell on them. Check out the area in wally world where they sell hair dryers and such and you can get 2 cartridges for like $5. I heard about this on either this forum or AT, not sure which, but I did verify that they sell the cartridges.

I hope it doesn't smell to begin with....it says odorless![&:] But not sure, guess the skeeters will tell you that. Mine still works.
Thats not true because it is not odorless. And i dont know why they put this on the package like that.
But it is a natural odor from chrysanthemum flowers.

"How It Works
ThermaCELL uses revolutionary, patented technology to dispense a small amount of repellent into the air over a long period of time. ThermaCELL is powered by a butane cartridge which provides the cordless, portable heat necessary to operate the device (batteries are not needed). It directs the heat to a metal grill. A mat saturated with Allethrin, a copy of a naturally occurring insecticide found in chrysanthemum flowers, is placed on top of the metal grill. The heat generated by the butane cartridge vaporizes the repellent allowing it to rise into the air, creating a 15 x 15 ft (225 sq ft) “Mosquito-Free-Zone” in minutes. The repellent is very unpleasant to mosquitoes, but when used as directed, will not harm humans or pets."

But I had a doe that got spooked out of the woods. she came from the northeast where the wind was coming. Came down to the north side of me stoped down wind and did not even know i was there and she was only 10 yards out. If she was there 30 seconds longer she would be in the freezer
