RE: All day hunt strategy?

See last year I think I spent too much time in a couple spots during the midday hours because I knew how good they were morning and evening. I have a few stands that I know I can sit all day & see deer, but I’m not going to hunt the same 3 spots everyday for 2 weeks. I have several other stands that I feel (or have experienced) aren’t very productive midday, but dynamite early & late. I feel like I would be wasting the vast majority of my day sitting out these stands all day (as I did many days last season) when I could move to a location that would give me a better chance at midday action.
Well...Sounds like a good plan then. Good luck.

I will move around some simply to break down the boredom of staring at the same trees and brush. I normally will make my move atnoon or 1:00 and be back set up by 1 or 2:00. I do not worry about the "disturbance" factor for two reasons...one is that I make my standselection by ease of entry meaning if I can't get in and out without screwing it up, I don't hunt it. Second is the fact that often my rut stands will be located in a travel location where I do not expect there to be any deer except when travelling thru.

For me, it is amazing how energized I can get with just a half hour of stretching, getting some food, take a practice shot or two, etc. Even if I do not wish to change locations, I often will get out of the tree for that little window of time.

Rybo are you're spots that are good early and late in the timber or are they food plots, fields, or open areas?

They are just inside field edges. They seemed to have no other funnel or travel effect. They probably accounted for half my buck sightings and 2/3 my mature buck sightings, but they were only good the first and last 1-2 hours of the day.

In that scenario I would do what you are doing and move back into the timber during the middle of the day. Action, probably won't be fast and furious but you never know when 1 will show up.

Yea I can be moved to better travel corridors back in the woods within 20-30 minutes and ride out the mid day time with an actual chance(probability) of seeing a deer.
