Scary Coyote Encounter
#1
Last night i was sitting in my stand around 7:00 and had a spike and a doe walk by out of range. They were headed to an open pasture about 150 yards ahead of me. I heard them jump the fence, so i knew that they must be out there grazing. So with the wind in my favor and it being too dark to shoot under the canopy of the woods, i decided to climb down and see if i could stalk my way into the pasture and get a shot at the doe. So here i am about to step out of the tree line and into the field, when all of a sudden i hear movement coming down the tree line towards me. I assume it is the spike or the doe, so i draw my bow back and aim straight away into the opening. Finally the animal steps into frame, and at first i thought it was a fawn so i waited for it to walk by before i let my bow down. As soon as i did that this animal heard me moving and it charged into the opening like a frick'n freight train. After i realized that it was a coyote it was 3 yards in front of me snarling and growling. It must have thought that i was another deer entering the field, but then it saw me and turned away and ran off. My heart was seriously racing, i have never been scared of any animal that i have encountered in the woods. I thought that i was about to get mauled and turned into coyote food. Just thought that i would share!

I had a scary encounter with a pack of yotes a couple of weeks ago. My wife has just started bowhunting with me and this was her first trip in her climber. So I was standing at the bottom of her tree (my bow and stand were 15 yards away at the base of the tree I was going to hunt). I was tying on her bow when I hearn what sounded like a fawn in distress tape followed by something running in the leaves. I look up and there is a yote heading straight for me with 3 more behind him. I freeze and the yote runs up to about 10' and then he sees me and stops. I jumped at him and he turned and growled and loped off about 10 yards and then slowed down still growling and then he loped over to his buddies and they started circling us andbefore finally headingoff. Let's just say I was seriously wishing I had my bow in my hands at the time

I wanted so badly to rage him but when he is 3 yards away growling at you it's kind of hard to not freeze up. My bow wasn't drawn at the time i was face to face with him. By the time he figured out what i was it was too late to get a shot off because he turned and hauled ass.
