Yes,it will hold deer in an area.Friend of mine used it twice over the weekend and had deer underneath him for extended periods of time that he is convinced were held by the lure.It has a licorice odor to it.

i bought some of it about a month ago. But when i smelled it it smelled like licorice. Didn't put it out the 1st month because wasn't sure. This past weekend i decided to put it out. I had a spike 15 yards come right up to it and put his nose right on it for about a minute. So that is my only exprience with it. we will see what happens in the mext few weeks

I've seen it work with younger deer but I've also seen some mature bucks get a whiff of it and turn tail.
