Update on "I ran my bow over with the truck"
Well I had to replace the cable guard, rest, quiver, sight, and string suppresser, but the bow was back up within a week. I had the cable guard laying around and put an STS string suppresser on instead of the stock Hoyt one. Yesterday was the first chance I got to hunt with the bow after the repairs. I shot a nice doe, 30 yard shot. The hit was a little high and a little back, but still double lung. She ran 150 yards total and no kidding, fell
20' from the truck. It took me an well over an hour to find her though. The blood trail was very sparse and I am not the worlds best at finding blood to begin with. I was begining to have my doubts about the hit but persistance pays off. I also managed to get her back to the house without running anything over I guess it was a good lesson (but costly) and one I won't soon forget.__________________ |
RE: Update on "I ran my bow over with the truck"
Good update Chris and congratulations on the doe.
Persistence does pay off. That's the kind of deer to hit, the uphill running, back to the truck models. My friends seem to shoot the downhill running, away from the truck uphill dragging models. [8D] |

Maybe you could send pics. and a story of running over the bow to the company along with the needed repairs, might make an interesting testimonial.
I had a deer run 125 yards after a double lung hit; I do not like long or skimpyblood trails given a well placed shot. What broadhead did you use? |

If I'm ever hitch-hiking, with bow in hand......don't pick me up!!!!

Congrats on the slickhead 5shot....sounds like you got off cheap, all things considered. I'm assuming you have a new set of rules to follow when bowhunting...
Rule #1 ... Aim for the exit hole Rule #2 ... Tailgate Up! ;)[8D] |
