What type of rack do you prefer?
Ok.. My cousin shot a nice 10 pointer this weekend.. He had two bucks come in and one was a perfect 10 about 135-140 and the other was a really gnarly non typical probably would score higher without deductions, he guessed 160.. But he took the 10 because he likes the clean look of an even spread on a buck..
I probably would have taken the non typical because I prefer those type of bucks if I would ever get to choose. But it made me wonder what people really prefer. I have taken a double main beam but would really like a drop tine buck.. So what kind of rack do you prefer or what is your dream rack? lol (I'm trying to keep it clean by the way.. lol) |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Love the perfect symmetrical but id take a monster non typical over a symmetrical oneanyday!!
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I have a few nice typical deer. Now I want a gnarly monster non-typical with drop tines.:D
But any big old buck will do nicely.;) |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Giant non-typical with double drops.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I like long thick tined bucks with a 20"+ Inside spread but a huge NT would do me just fine!:)
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Id take a monster typical over a monster non typical anyday. But right now anything will do, im trying to get my first buck with a bow.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Dang, I already voted for Giant Non Typical.:D
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I don't think I'd be able to decide unless given the opportunity. I would THINK that I would shoot the non-typical though.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I am partial to most all kinds of racks, and respect most all of them for their beauty. ;)
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
If I could pick what I would shoot next, it would be a 20" wide, heavy main frame 10 with a split brow and about 5 or 6 stickers.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
a giant perfectly symetrical rack, with double drops is my dream rack!
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
A NT, because they are, well, non-typical.
I'd LOVE go get a droptine. My Pops has one and he won't shut up about it. :) |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
a nice legal 3 pointer would be just fine for me lol, but if i had to chose a giant non typical
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Whatman likes a lopsided rack?:D[&:]
I'd like both sides to be the same please.;) |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
long tines and lots of mass
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
At this point, I'm going for any rack I can get. I have not yet got a buck with my bow.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I love huge, perfectly symmetrical typicals.
I like the looks of some non-typicals, but there is a certain point when all the junk just looks bad to me. That isn't to say I would pass up a huge buck because he had a lot of junk on his head gear, I just prefer the typical look. |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
![]() That is my dream buck.:) Wide, Massive, Tall Tined, with matching Drops. My favorite attribute of a rack is a TALL TINED symetrical rack with mass throughout. WKP TODD's 8 point from last year is as pretty as they come...huge tines and mass throughout. Best 8 pointer a man could ask for. ![]() |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I like D big non typical ones.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
![]() Yes please:) |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Typical and Non Typical have been dang near tied the whole time, can't say I'm surprised about that though.. Drops are another big "dream".... I think just about anyone would take a deer typical or non if it had some drops on it.. I know I would love to have a drop tine but have never seen one while hunting.. I know there out there but it might be a while..
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
perfect rack, but you cant go wrong with any of them in my book
 |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I like the character of a non typical giant . but i'm not picky i'll take what comes my way
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
a perfectly even 10 point
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Her name is Katelyn and Im a HUGE fan of hers :D
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I like the looks of...and call me crazy...and tall tined, heavy racked, narrow spread deer....narrow relatively speaking in comparison to mass and tine length....typical and symetrical
Even though I think this deer is totally awesome....truely my favorite Ive seen killed this year....since this is a 'dream' thread.....then Id say minus the sticker and the split brow tine..... http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=3082259&mpage=1also maybe a couple inches narrower (to me it makes the rack and mass look just that much more impressive!) |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I love the look of typical racks, but I also love droptines, and kickers off the 2s and 3s. Symmetry is my favorite attribute though.
I kind of wish there was and "all of the above" option. |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Whether symmetrical or not, I don't care as long as he's a mature buck with a respectable rack.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
if i cant get arack thats on a nice blonde:D, then i would have to say a typical with matching drop tines would be the ticket. Just like Tembry posted. That is one awsome animal.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
dont matter as long as its a good one.......but ill have to say i like the nasty ones....the more screwed up thebetter :D
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I just shot a heavy 10 with split brows this season (pope and young #2down...so early? : thread) I have always loved the clean look of a perfect typical, they look so majestical. but on the other hand my dream buck is a double drop tine king of the woods....so if i had the chance...ummm....i dont really know, ive shot a few nice clean symetricals so i think its time for a big nasty....something crazy!
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Why isnt there a selection for "Anything Big" lol
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I have no real preference on typical or nontypical, or number of points. My ultimate goal these daysis mass. I want big thick knarly bases that you can't quite get you hands around and carrying alot that mass out to the ends of the beams. This type of massmost definately goes hand-in-hand with a very mature deer which is also my new standard.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
there is nothing I like better then a wide rack. something that looks like a rocking chair
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
it was tough, close between the drop tine and the monster non-typical.
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
I prefer large, symetrical racks! ;)
|
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
ORIGINAL: GregH I prefer large, symetrical racks! ;) |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
Symmetry all the way. Even symmetrical kickers.
Perfect rack would be a 20” inside spread main frame 10, with split brows, forward kickers from the base, double drops (but not those wavy thick kind), split G2’s or matching kickers from them. |
RE: What type of rack do you prefer?
My "perfect" buck is a big symmetrical main frame 10pt with tall brows and a 2" kicker or a 5-6" droptine or both. I am not a big fan of the narly racks either but I like a little bit of character. Symmetrical racks with tall brows are the most desirable attributes for me though.
