This is my second year of bow hunting and I hunt on public land. I don't want to buy a ground blind or stand because I need to pay for other things first. I need to stay hidden on the ground but I need to be able to see. All the leaves and everything is still up so it makes for short visibility. I'm used to sitting over a big field where I can see deer coming from a couple hundred yards so bow hunting is a big change. How should I set up on the ground so I can see and not be seen?

I do some ground hunting. I like to use things that are already there like a group of trees, a big stump. I like to prop up a stick and hang some pine branches off of it. I like to have something above my head. it seems to work a lot better then having your head sticking up the highest point. 2 pine trees close together make a good blind. Make sure you clear away all the leaves and branches off the ground so you can move without making noise. As for visiblity, you have to get the deer close anyway so just stay prepared. I like to hang my bow if poss. for quick access. A light weight 3 legged chair is a real plus. I like to have trees out in front of me so if a deer comes I can draw while his head is behind a tree.
