Don't stop practicing!!
I figure it's about time for my annual reminder to all my bowhunting buddies on here to not forego your practice sessions.
It's usually about this time that some of us have had seasons open for three weeks or so, and it's all too easy to use every spare minute to get away and out into our stands. Problem is that when the moment of truth arrives, now there's been a good possibility that it's been three weeks since you stepped out back and concentrated on keeping your form and mechanics sharp. A couple quick suggestions: Leave a target in your deer-hunting vehicle so you can take a couple quick, practice shots once you arrive at your hunting destination before heading into the woods. Another good idea is to step out back with one single arrow every morning. Some people really think highly of this training method, since your first shot out in the woods is likely to be your only shot out in the woods. By shooting only one arrow for your practice session, it forces you to slow down and concentrate as if it was the real deal; you won't get another opportunity to "make it right" until the next day. However you decide to keep practicing, the main thing is to be sure that we do. We owe it to the game we pursue, and we owe it to ourselves not to let the whole summer's practice sessions go in vain at this point in the game. |

Yup, good post Greg, we need to keep at it weekly, even if its a few arrows before every eveninghunt or mid day shoots in between.

RE: Don't stop practicing!!
I killed a doe sun night. to make a long story short, i go out to shoot yesterday, and cant find my release. apparently, i got in a hurry and left my 60$ scott release out in the woods some where
hopefully its down there at the bottom of my tree where that stand is at. if not, im gonna have to buy another one:(i loved it soo much and am so used to it theres no way i could settle for a cheap one from wally world or something like that. |
RE: Don't stop practicing!!
I have admittedly been slipping here recently. Hunting alot can do that to ya. Im goin to sling some arrows in the morning thanks to this post.
