Anybody here still shoot an xi bow?
|
RE: xi archery
never heard of it...sorry
 |
RE: xi archery
It is the same thing as Bear archery.
|
RE: xi archery
you must be pretty young- lasted from 84 til about 1998. brand was abandoned but escalade bought out bear archery . you've heard of that I presume?
|
RE: xi archery
Nah, I just did a quick Yahoo on it, and everything related to XI took me to the Bear archery website.
|
RE: xi archery
I've got an XI Velocity Force one, if I had to guess I'd say it's around a 94 model. Has an Overdraw. I used it as a backup bow until I got my PSE now I use the diamond as a back up. I guess it's my back up's back up.:D

RE: xi archery
I still have my XI Impact
|
RE: xi archery
I have an old xi. actualy, it's at a buddies house. i haven't seen it in years. i shot my first 4 deer with that thing. 170 whopping fps!
|
RE: xi archery
ok so you're a young'un too. worked for them from 84 through 96. still waiting for someone still hunting with an xi.
|
RE: xi archery
My lower cam kept eating the string to pieces. I had it reserved and restrung a couple of times, finally decided to retire the boat anchor.
|
RE: xi archery
velocity was made my last year with xi- probably 95.
|
RE: xi archery
impact was probably the first bow we made that was a success.
|
RE: xi archery
What came first, the impulse or the impact? Whatever came second was the model I had. I dropped a few deer with it. Missed a few too, but that was the indian not the arrow.
|
RE: xi archery
impact first- impulse 2 years later
|
RE: xi archery
you know- i replied that impulse came 2 yrs later than impact but it's been too many years and too many beers to say that for a fact. I know that the impact plus came between the two and automatically said two years between as xi tried to change model names every year but it could have been 3 or 4 years later.
Been a long time since i've been involved in the industry. sorry |
RE: xi archery
I still have my XI Impact |
RE: xi archery
Year is very probable. It was a very long-lived bow as today's standards go.
Minnesota is Myles Keller country and I met him a few times as he was sponsored by XI. I also hunted near Kenyon with a couple of buddies. No wonder Myles has so many book bucks. Wow. |
RE: xi archery
My first ever hunting bow was a XI Prodigy....I loved the thing as a kid and killed my first 2 archery deer with it. A button buck and a 120 class 8 point. Only reason I got rid of it at the time was because I outgrew it and moved onto a Browning Rage with adjustable draw length.
Still sitting in my basement though, and I'm waiting to turn it over to one of my nephews when they become of age to start hunting. The oldest one thinks its "icky" but his little brother has always thought they were "cool". |
RE: xi archery
I used one up till someone stole it 2 years ago. I still have 2 or 3 in my basement. Hey beez whats your name I use to work for them?
|
RE: xi archery
greg. used to or still do?
|
RE: xi archery
Never mind I see your name. I dont remember you where did you work there? Were you there when they made weight machines?
|
RE: xi archery
use to about 11 years ago I left.

RE: xi archery

|
RE: xi archery

|
RE: xi archery

|
RE: xi archery

|
RE: xi archery
I'm thinking I knew another Jim but can"t remember last name. sorry. This Jim was tall and slim-you?
|
RE: xi archery
You still live in the Eville area?
|
RE: xi archery
got transferred to indianapolis in 2003 but my heart is still there.
|
RE: xi archery
My girlfriends dadSTILL hunts with an XI, not sure of the model. He and his brother used to shoot nothing but XI, and he still has 4 or 5 of them. My uncle just passed away this past spring, and he was hunting with an XI the last few years. He hunted traditional for most of the time thatI can remember, but I think he got it dirt cheap and it shot decent. His was an XI Silver Hawk.
|
RE: xi archery
xi was a pretty reputable brand in the midwest in it"s time... sorry to hear about your uncle.
|
RE: xi archery
I still have and shoot my XI XRG LEGEND, never had a complaint with the old girl!
|
RE: xi archery
Legend XRG was a pretty good bow and I still have a couple. I prefer the upgrade to the Legacy and have used it to harvest my best deer. Haven't been able to find any good places to hunt since I moved North in 03 but still looking.

RE: xi archery
I used an XI Demon up 'til 3 years ago.
Around 42" ata. Dinky round wheels.Had a beat up cobra sight and a Huntmaster 2000 rest on it. No peep or anything like that. I think I was getting around 175-180 fps with it. I still have it hanging on my wall. It was a toughol' bow and Ikilled a bunch of stuff with it. My '06 bowtech is in a whole different class tho'. (note that classy Bowtech quiver on there. :D) |
RE: xi archery
Demon must have been after my time there- I left in Jan. 96. I haven't kept up with the industry as to what's available now but I have a few bows that I made up while I was there that I haven't even shot. I got to take home 1 a year to test and shoot so I'm pretty set for awhile after 12 years. Don't shoot competitively so they're plenty fast enough for my needs.
|
RE: xi archery
Hmm, I'm pretty sure I bought it before '96. It was pretty much XI's bottom of the line bow.
|
RE: xi archery
I believe that the Silverhawk was the low end bow when I left- maybe the guys put it out in 96 as I left in Jan.
|
RE: xi archery
I hung up my XI bow 2 years ago for a new Diamond Triumph.I still have it.It's aFlatliner. Need parts.....Let me know
