Default '08 Sask Archery Moose

Took me 5 years to get my 2nd Archery Moose but it was worth the wait....

Oct.1st. Wed. Morning called. Bull came in within 1 hour. 6 Yards/6 paces away. Broadside shot. He was running in and caused hit a little too far back. Ended up being a liver shot. Arrow was sticking out side of his ribs. Heard him go back in bush and thought he went down. Decided to leave him for 1 hour. Went for 2 mile round a bout walk to trail around to the south of direction he left in to see if he made it back across. Was creeping down trail and seen another BIG bull. Had bow drawn and ready to shoot. 20 yards broadside. Could NOT see arrow sticking out side so decided to let him go. GPS'd and found I was only .4 miles from where other bull was....and thought OH crap he was THE one and I let him go.

Went back to look for Bull. Could not find him and found my arrow broke half off and really got worried!!!!(thinking that the other bull was same one). NO blood trail at all which was terrible. I thought (by sound) he went RIGHT but he actually went to left. Tried to go through bush 2 times and could not find him. I ended up trying to follow his tracks. There was not a drop of blood trail. Tried to track as best I could through leaves and jungle bush. Was able to get a bearing on his path and found him less than 100 yards from where he was hit.

Arrow had hit rib dead center which prevented pass-through shot and caused no blood trail. He had completely bled out inside and liver was shredded by broadhead.

Broadhead twisted inside him and when he fell down it went into part of his guts....MESSY!

Bow was 72 pounds and fixed blade 4-blade Slick Trick broadhead.

The Bull I took 5 years back was 40 inchs and a little smaller body wise, but I used a different broadhead( 3 blade Wasp 125 Hammer) the bow was same and arrow weight similar but that shot was complete pass through and amazing blood trail. Needless to say I will go to back to 3 blades for next year.

Took us until 5 PM to get him out of the bush. The RANGER really came in handy as single quad would not even get him moving.

Measured 47 inchs widest spread.

No kidding! Posts like this with no pics will have folks threatening to pull your man-card and give you sack-punches!
