Rage Broadhead Review.
I am one that believes that the less moving parts on a bow the better, and yes your arrow is part of your bow. I bought the Rage Broadheads because my Muzzy Broadheads could not work up to my standards and kept dropping. Well, my buddy shot a doe on the opener and his Rages put one nasty hole in the deer. Quick and clean kill.
Three days after the opener i took my first ever deer with a bow. It was only a doe because it is only doe season here in PA. Took me five years to do it and countless hours in the woods, but that is besides the fact. The deer only ran about 45 yards and piled up. My Rage passed straight through and left a huge exit wound. I would give the Rages and A+ if anyone was wandering about there performance. Good luck everyone! |

RE: Rage Broadhead Review.
Speaking of Rage and Muzzy's... I've been using a crossbow but maybe there's something to be gained from this experience.
Last year I was using the two blade Rage broadheads. First off, they flew just like my field points. I really liked that. I was a little nervous that they wouldn't perform well with my slow crossbow (260 fps) and shorter xbow arrows, but after I contacted some people they said it would work fine. Later that season I put a perfect shot on a large doe. The penetration was there, but the arrow didn't drop out the other side. It kind of stuckout both sides of herand she ran about 3/4 of a mile. Now this is very open land and the deer was alert at the shot. There was a good blood trail, and whenI found her it looked like she had been stabbed by a broadsword. Huge holes. This year I went back to the Muzzy 4 blade 100 grain broadhead because I figure it would be a little more forgiving for a slower bow. They don't fly like my field points, but they are consistant, so I just sighted my bow in with muzzys. And opening morning I put another good shot on an alert doe. This one only went 40 yards and piled up. The muzzy left a good sized hole, but looking back at the short bloodtrail, there wasn't as much blood on the ground as I found last year while using the Rage. But, the internal damage was MUCH more obvious with the Muzzy. Her lungs were just GONE. Penetration was also better as the arrow burried it's self pretty deer into a tree root after going through the deer. All in all, I'd say they're both great broadheads. The muzzy is a better choice for my particular set up, but I'm still using the Rage with my compound bow. |

i love my rages! and wiggy if im correct you said she ran 3/4 of a mile with a rage, i'd have to say that its a terrible shot! musta been guts or something because 3/4 of a mile is a long ways... dont blame the broadhead for that one, you'll hafta blame yourself for making a bad shot.
