i definitely believe with the buck to doe ratio being ALOT better than it used to be, that the rut rituals are getting stronger...

i watched sparring about 2 weeks ago and it looked pretty dang serious...wasnt a death match...but wasnt what i would call friendly sparring either....

i honestly believe we have more bucks than does in the area of my honey hole this year....it seems like every deer has atleast spikes on its head....very few does...the guy that lives near my honey hole said that he hasnt seen a doe...said every deer he sees has some bone on its head....and we drive from rifle season through flintlock season pretty much daily from 10-11 am till dark...we dont see EVERY deer...but we see alot of them...seeing alot less deer overall....but if we kept track, i bet we see more bucks than does....but im in 2B which is a special reg area and you can rifle hunt for doe even in the late season...and unlimited tags...the first couple years early muzzle loader and flintlock(late doe rifle) the doe herd was hit hard....and rifle season does are still hit hard by others...i quit taking does until i find an area that has a pile of them....if in rifle season i have a doe herd run by, i'll do my part and take one...but the last couple years that hasnt been the case....we have to "travel" to doe hunt...lol

I to have had my 3D deer attacked, poor bambo got hit antler kicked. LOL. They broke to one right off so he only has one left now.

The rebar that holds my buck target up actually got bent last Friday and the buck was on the ground. Antlers were still attached. Not sure what too think of it. Maybe somebody messed with it but i live pretty far out in the country.

there getting a little spunky in wisconsin too!!! i went out tonite and it was one of the first days that actually felt like fall. i was sitting in between 3 bean field and i saw a decent 8 and a little guy in the beans. they were probably 150 yards when they popped out and were walking away from me. i watched them for a bit and then decided to let out a couple soft grunts to see what they would do. they were walking up a hill in the opposite direction when i grunted and then they turned right around and sprinted towards me. it was pretty cool. they were looking for the grunts til dark. i could hear them crashing around and grunting themselves...it was a pretty fun night!!!

As long as they aren't standing over me at 3AM I won't be required to use deadly force.
