Little Topo help on Stand
#1
Here's a woodlot I've never hunted. I'm going, tonight.....and looking for a good spot to maybe catch a buck traveling......and at the worst do a little in-season scouting.
Acorns abound....and the hardwoods are in this spot. My plan is to go to one of the three green dots inside the red outlined area....and look for the best sign of dropping acorns. Wind will be a NNE at 10mph.
Am I on the right track?

Thanks, Chris. Your post gets me thinking. Although I might have a perfect wind for THOSE stands.....you're right. That's a lot of scent into an uncharted area. I may re-group.

This may make more sense with that wind (see red stand locations to the SW). Again....I've never hunted, here, either. Could be a GREAT vantage point.....and a scout from stand (at the worst).

I would go in via MurryHill Rd to access you southern spots. Usually by roads there is drainage into the woods so the hardwoods will produce better along that road. If deer are headingto that open field to the north I bet there are some nice trails just inside that road. Somewhere around that 89 at the bottom is whereI would head today. Save the green dots for s, se, and sw winds.

Hey Chris...
I can access from the cul-de-sac (depicted, now). It's a retty short hike....and I can come in downwind from the potential sites.
From the cul-de-sac depicted.....homes line that road all the way from the point depicted (cul-de-sac) on a straight ine backwards on a SE track.
