RE: Which Scent works?

Deerthug, This is what I've been searching for. Thanks for the link. It seems to be exactly what shed1 was talking about. I am using this product for sure! Thanks everybody for all your help. Has anybody else used "SPscents"?

I have tended not to use scents much the last few yrs. but I am impressed with Wildlife Research's "Golden Estrous". I tried it this season and had some good results. Remember the timing of using scents are as important as the placement of scent. Only use estrous scent IN the rut. I also believe deer will associate a certain brand of scent with humans if we are seen in that immediate area while using that scent.

CougarMag has a very good point. If the deer bust you, you better believe that when the smell that scent again it will turn them the other way. I have heard really good things about Golden Esterous too but have never used it. I will tell you one thing, DON'T get carried away with your scents. I normally make three or four scent cans, take a old film container, put cotton balls in it, fill it with the scent. They last a long time, all you do is place them around your hunting area with the tops off, let them sit there and it will attract deer. When you are done hunting, pick them up and put the lids on. A really good cover scent that you might want to look into is Team Fitzgerald Deer Dander. It is made to smell like deer dropings, urine, food, dander from its skin, habitat. It seems to work VERY well. I am pretty sure that they guarentee it to be better than any other cover scent. Another good tip is if you want an early season scent, Pete Rickards makes an apple scent. It smells like apples and it brings deer in. I hope these tips help you out.

Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

Sure does Buck Magnet, guess I never thought about how much scent to put down. Film containers seem like a good way to make scent last to. Some very good ideas.

RE: Which Scent works?

Yes, billy goat, buck stop is a doe in heat scent. Saw Buck Magnet talking about dominant buck scent, haven't used Tinks 69, but used Prime Time dominant buck, and also spooked every deer i saw. Also, thought I'd mention, had a couple of does come in on the trail I made with the buck stop. One more thing I thought I'd mention, I only use Buck Stop during the rut, maybe right before or after.
