ORIGINAL: PreacherTony ORIGINAL: Rob/PA Bowyer ORIGINAL: StruttinGobbler3 i just had possibly the worst day of my hunting career this afternoon. i've killed several deer rifle hunting, so i figured hey stickin one with a bow won't be too hard, right? wrong! i'm learning lessons the hard way. today i was in a ground blind, thought i had the perfect spot, but neglected to check the wind like i usually do every hunt. just my luck, two does came out about thirty yards away, with the wind blowin right at them. just as i was drawing back on what i thought would be my first ever bow kill, one of them winded me, blew, and took off. i figured, hey its still early i'll just slip through the woods to another stand. well i was almost in that stand, looked up just in time to see another doe stomp, blow, and take off. not to mention on the way back to the truck it started raining on me [:o]but i'm not giving up by any means, now i'm just pissed. i'm headed right back out tomorrow and hope to get one. sorry for the long post, just needed to vent. SG3, There is a sharp and unforgiving learning curve in bowhunting. You my friend are on the LOW side of it right now, but that's ok, tomorrow may be a better day, then next week will be worse. It can certainly be a roller coaster, and you can go from your "lowest moment today" to killing your best buck tomorrow. And that is the cruel nature of the beast. Add a little target panic and the frustrations of trying to tune BH's that just don't want to tune, and you'll really start enjoying yourself. :D That being said, I can tell that most of us here will probably tell you that our bow kills were far more rewarding than our gun kills. |

dont worry man. It gets to a point when you just shake your head and chuckle at yourself when you do something silly.
Its wierd Sometimes things work out funny. I have had deer walk righ up to me wind in thier face, and not care, then I have had other deer make me up wind on a rainy day. everyone overlooks stuff. just be happy that you saw some really cool animals up close and personal. Just waittill you get your first 5 yard encounter lol |

any day your hunting and you see deer is a good day. It will be better tomorrow . stick it out and you will be successful

thanks for the encouragement guys makes me feelbetter about the missed opportunity..tomorrow is my last day off work so i'm headed to a completely different stand in the morning where i haven't spooked any deer to try and get a fresh start. i hung this stand last year and my brother killed a nice nine point sitting there with his rifle last season at thirty yards, hopefully i can repeat the performance with a bow! again thanks for the feedback guys

No I got you beat, I got busted by a different 10 pointer tonight, I thought he was a 9 but turns out to eb a different 10 than the one i saw lastnight. [:@]
