Pen setting

RE: Pen setting
I made a big switch this year after a bit of thought from the standard 20-30-40 setup to a two pin setup, set at 20 and 35. I will see how it works, but I am confident it will be a good switch for me. Three pins in the past made me nervous - not from screwing up, but from worrying about screwing them up...and frankly, I didn't need three pins.

Its just one more set distance that I can get used to. It helps me to see the size of targets fifteen yards out of my comfort range. I still suck at distance estimating, so I am trying everything to get better.

How do you use the 50 yd pin for estimating?

20, 35, and 50. The 50 is a reference mark to help me with distance estimating.

RE: Pen setting
After this weekend I really don't think I would be comfortable past 30 yards. I can't practice shooting past 30 at my house so that's really my comfort level. Where I hunt I have the yardage marked off with rock piles from my stand. My bow shoots about 1/2 inch high at 10 yards using the 20 yard pin (checked yesterday) so I took off the ten. There is a much bigger drop between my 20 and 30 yard pin. Should I go with 20, 25, 30? or a 20 and 27? or just stick with 20 and 30? I would really like to only use 2 pins. Less to confuse me in the moment.
