Just for Laughs; the all time post...
...after perusing many message boards for years (and having asked most of these questions), and it being slow this time of year, I thought I' d post the all-time, bowhunting message board question (Please feel free to post anything I may have missed);
---I would like to know what bow is the best to buy? Should I shoot carbon or aluminum? What are the best carbons? Peep or no-peep? I have heard that speed is the king, what about KE? What do you guys feel about mechanical broadheads versus fixed? If in the unlikely event that I actually arrow a deer, how long do I wait to track it? They usually go to water when hit don' t they? Should I pass on small bucks or shoot all the spikes I see to cull them from the gene pool? String loop or metal D? What is the best treestand? Why is it taking so long for my new Hoyt/Matthews/Bowtech/Reflex/Martin/all other bows/ to get here? Plastic vanes or feathers? I appreciate your opinions with these questions, but if I don' t agree with them, you must be a moron.--- How about some help yall! I know I' m forgetting some favorites! |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...

RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
Should crossbows be allowed in archery season?
Which arrows rest? Which relese? And this one although not a question is a common statement- " I hit the deer perfect behind the shoulder, but I can' t find it" |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
Your bow sucks,
My bows great. Here' s a question I' d like to see.... " how many people want to not reply to my post because the questions asked three other time on this page alone?" I' d reply to that. |

" On the land that I am going to hunt, they tell me there are some trees and some fields with some open grassy areas and a couple of streams with dirt banks. Where is the best place to hang my stand? I haven' t been there but I need to know soon because I am going to hunt it this afternoon."

I have a 40lb bow my draw is 25" I am shooting a 600gr arrow at 140fps can I use a 3" cut mechanical?
I am totally new to bow hunting have never shot a bow in my life. Going deer hunting tomorrow I want to use a bow need advice on what bow, rest, sights, release, arrows and broad heads to buy this afternoon. Where have all the deer gone? What is scent control? What is scouting and what do I look for? If I pass gas and wearing a scent blocker suit will the smell sneak out? I doubled lunged a deer and tracked it for 200 yrds then lost the blood trail do you think the deer will survive? Where did I hit the deer? |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
Why is my 90# bow shooting 300 grain arrows so loud? I shoot with right helical fletching, would switching to left helical help?
A few of the strands on my string broke. is this a problem? Is my 90# bow enough for deer in south texas? What is a " texas heart shot" ? Thats what my guide said I made on that big buck. |

RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
I just got my new bow and the advertised speed is 310--that' s all fine and dandy but when i shot thru the chrono i was only getting 309!!What is going on with all of the false advertising lately?Oh, almost forgot to mention that i was shooting 490 grain arrows with the tubing style peep, with a 10" draw and using fingers for my release.I CAN' T BELIEVE THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH THESE FALSE CLAIMS!!!I FOR ONE AM DONE DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AND HOPEFULLY EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU WILL BE TOO!!SORRY ABOUT RAMBLING--I JUST HAD TO GET THAT OFF MY CHEST--THANKS

RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
How about .......I need a high end bow, all the accessories,arrows, broadheads, good tree stand,camo, and probably a 4 wheeler ! I only have a $100 , what should I do ?
And I know I have never killed a deer with a bow, but I would never enter a trophy buck into any record book , ' cause it' s stupid !! |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
This has the potential for being one of the most humorous thread ever. Please keep it going. It brings a smile to my face every time that I read it. :D

RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
Welcome to another one of JSASKER' S short and useless bow reports:
The bow i' m reporting on is the legendary B.M.H.(bowtech-mathews-hoyt hybrid)and i' ll start off with the looks first: 1. i did like the camo pattern at first but the more i look at it the more i wish it would have been done differently. 2.THE DRAW CYCLE--this bow starts out really smooth then gets extremely tough then back to smooth again--it took some getting used to.Almost forgot to mention the quaddroople cams that can spit arrows at 200 f.p.s.!yes you read correctly as i shot this thing thru the chrono 61 times and got 200 every time--very consistant! 3.THE FEEL--after shooting for 10 minutes straight i only had three blisters on my palm--i think that may be due to the custom porcupine grip(made from real porcupine, hope PETA doesn' t hear about that!).The balance was pretty good overall as long as you keep a tight grip--the top of the bow keeps tipping back towards me but i' m sure with a 3# stabilizer that will straighten right out. I' LL TRY TO GET BACK WITH MORE DETAILS LATER AFTER THE BLISTERS STOP OOZING. |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
A// " How can I harvest a good buck?" I keep reading and seeing all these posts of great bucks you guys take, I only wish. Every year I spend plenty of time scouting, scent control, practice and all that good stuff. First deer I see, let him have it. What am I doing wrong? Any help or tips to get a good buck? Please reply
B// " What broadhead should I use?" I' ve been hunting with the bow for 35 years, the last 10 years I have used the same fixed 3-blade. In that time I have harvested 100 head of game, all complete pass throughs, great blood trails and most the animals have gone down with in eye sight. I have been thinking about switching heads, since their are so many new ones on the market. Please help me find the best BH for my setup? I just don' t feel I am maximizing my potential with my choice of BH. C// " Help me decide what bow is right for me?" I have tried a great number and all but one has felt like crap. What should I do? |

Hey, how come I get get blisters when I shoot with my fingers on my 28" axle to axle bow?
|
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
HOw high should I put my treestand, is 40 feet enough?? Do I really need a safety belt? ........ if I fall I think I' m strong enough to not get hurt.
Do deer really smell and see that well?? Last year on the first day of GUN season on game lands in PA I had a button buck 10 yards from me on the ground, my cigarette smoke was blowing straight to him, I even had on an orange jacket, and he didn' t spook! Why ?? I hit a buck in the heart last year at 55 yards, and never found him, what can I do to get more penetration? I bought my bow at Wal-MArt and it' s broke, can you fix it? |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
I just started bowhunting this week and really love it. I was wondering if anybody has any advice on how I can get my own show. If not, maybe advice on how to become a guide or at the very least, how do I become a moderator on this site. Thanks.

RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
Hey, what' s the deal with my bow? It shoots nowhere near as fast as what you guys are talking about!...Geez, the guys on the traditional archery forum said my 45# longbow would be fine... Must be that i' m still shooting aluminum arrows?
|
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
Joe Jimbobs hunting shows really suck. I don' t even waist my time watching bowhunting on TV anymore. The deer walks up and they just shoot them. (Like I want to watch someone sitting in a tree for six hours first????)
I did buy his vacuum cleaner though :D |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
I' m a pretty stout guy. I can open any mayonaise jar, hair spray bottle, or move any flower pot the wife throws at me !! I even moved little Bobby' s swingset by myself the other day !! Heck , I even used to work out a little back in the day .;) I haven' t ever really shot a bow much but I' m pretty sure a 80-90# one would not be hard for me to pull back (probably could pull much more....if I had to [:@] ).
Was down to the store the other day and currently looking at a 60# bow ,that' s set at 56 # (Man it' s sweet). Do you think that' s enough to kill a deer ? I sure would hate to get an 80# one, you know....resale and all ??!! [:-] |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
jsasker,
With your permission I would like to use some of that material for my next review....:D ... Ok, one more... " I don' t care what you guys say, a compound is a crossbow!" :) |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
PA,
feel free to use any info. i have given--i would feel better knowing that all my pain and suffering was able to help just one fellow archer:) |
RE: Just for Laughs; the all time post...
Ok, how bout some real posts that could make this thread. No harm intended to the author:
" I was at the range today, and there was a paper traget of a cougar, about a 20 yard shot. My second shot hit it straight in the forehead. I was wondering if this would drop a cougar in its tracks. My current set-up is a Browning compound set at about 55 lbs. Using 100 grain 3-blade Dead Head broadheads. Arrows are XX75 aluminum. I' m not planning on a cougar hunt, I just was wondering when I saw where the arrow hit. " Cargo |
