Sounds to me like the HIT inserts aren't quite seated deep enough.

I thought about that too Rick J, but I did try the rest of the heads and they seem to lock down fine, it seems the blades on that particular head are loose. I tried new blades in that head and it was tight. Who knows??? I will shoot the new tomorrow and see if it flies differently, but I don't suspect that it will, I mean they were loose, but just enough to cause a little wiggle not more than many of my muzzy's used to do..If the HIT is not in deep enough, what can I do about it??

Screw the head into another non HIT arrow and you will know if it's the insert or not. ;)

ORIGINAL: RattleSnake1

I just got into it with Slick Trick on Friday. I was wondering where the RazorTricks were that I need for the woman's setup. Of course they're on the way, but the last two years with Slick Trick has been rough to say the least.
I think that going to Germany for the blades was a mistake, or Gary should have handled it differently. The biggest reason that I know of that he went there for his blades was that too many people said the blades weren't sharp enough out of the package. I could agree that the original ST blades though may not have been shaving sharp, were sharp none the less. I always check all my blades even through out the season for quiver wear and what not. I guess my biggest question was how many of the complaints he heard came from people that pull the same arrow every time in the stand and never check to sharpen them? You can't please everybody.
I digress though. I also asked them why my last 2 packages of ST's the blades just wouldn't seem to tighten down. The reply I got from the young lady was that was a FERRULE problem and not a blade problem. I was surprised she didn't ask me to send them in or replace them. Is it all of the ones you have or just like one of out of a package that's doing it? I'm also surprised that Gary didn't admit to you that there has been a problem with ferrules, but I'm sure he's been fielding a lot of complaints lately.
Ditto! Send them back and have them replaced! A broadhead should not have loose blades, i don't care how well they fly or how sharp the blades are.... period! I can ssure youa wrench won't fix it. It is in fact a ferrule problem and not a blade problem. I went through this same thing with slicktrick the first time i tried them (loose blades). I was alsoasked if i wasusing the washer (duh) and all the other things mentioned here. I was told my shafts were bad, inserts were bad among other things but it was indeed the ferrule all along. The slot that the blades fit into weremachined tofartowards the tip which would not allow the blades to tighten against the tips as designed and causedplay in the blades even when tightened. Itook the heads to the local bow shop and tried them on about six different shafts and got the same results, loose blades. I think it was a maching problem with one particular batch with the older heads which sounds to me like what you haveas i've not heard of this being an issue with the newer heads. Having said all that, let me add that the customer service with slicktrick was great and Gary replaced all the heads until the problem was solved. I don't shoot slicktricks anymorebut imo they are good broadheads but if you want to shoot them don't beat around the bush with the headaches of trying to fix the ones you have because you shouldn't have too, just simply send them back and have them replaced until you're satisfied. All this is just my opinion and experience with the heads. God Bless! Mike
