Shot Placement - Black Bears
Am new to bow hunting, and plan to hunt spring bear in New Brunswick this May or June. I' m assuming I' ll be in a tree stand. Broadside, I' m guessing, will be behind the front leg, similar to a deer? What about other angles? Thanks.

With bear it' s best to stick with one angle...broadside! I' ve helped track quartering away shots to no avail! It' s best to go for broadside to get a complete pass thru to get blood flow on both sides.

I agree that you should try for as close to broadside as possible. Hopefully this way you double lung it. The bear I got only went 19 paced yards (had a string tracker on) and it was both lungs and the top of the heart. It was down and doing its death moan in less then 5 seconds (if you' ve never head it before then be prepared as it is real spooky especially near dusk).
