average distance deer go
I have noticed that the last several deer i have taken have gone what i think is a long distance between where they are shot and where they are found. So the question is on average how far do the deer you shoot go before dropping

RE: average distance deer go
I asked this because the last 2 went about 100 or so plus. They where both double lungs with the last one being a slice across the heart as a bonus

RE: average distance deer go
Usually my deer run about 40-80 yards, but last year I landed a double lung shot on a doe and she ran about 400 yards. I've never had that happen before but I was hunting a wide open cut field and there was nothing in the deer's way.

RE: average distance deer go
ORIGINAL: DropTine249 Keep in mind- deer can cover ALOT of ground, REAL quick. For one to run 50 yards it likea few leaps.... I dont usually stop deer- I wait for them to stop themselves. So, I tend to shoot at deer that are not "alert"....which I atribute to my short recoveries. |
RE: average distance deer go
I am going to gave to say around 60-80 with a good hit and a quiet bow....I have had them fall closer and farther but 60 -80 is prolly average...
