RE: DNR Confiscation????????????
I know in Indiana they have to turn it all over to the local police or sheriffs department as evidence. I am a volunteer coordinator for the 4-H shooting sports club in Nashville Indiana and last year I asked several of the DNR officers that exact question. And if it would be possible for them to donate some of the items they have. I was told I would have to contact the sheriff and the judge. And they might be able to release the items as evidence. I did exactly that and I have heard nothing back from them. But I know for a fact that everything confiscated is sold off at police auctions every few years.

A lot of towns pool toghether in auction. For all you know, the auction could be three states over, every three years. Problem is, a case has to be closed for the item to go to auction. If they confiscate things of an unknown owner, until the owner shows up and claims it (ratting himself out), the case will not be closed, as it could possibly be linked to a bigger crime somewhere. Most of the stuff is either stuck in a warehouse or taken home by an officer who has taken a fancy to it. When I was a kid, every bike I ever owned came from the police station. My grandfather would take me to the station, have me pick three bikes that I liked. He then would go and pull the files to see how old the case was, and whichever bike was the oldest case, I went home with.

RE: DNR Confiscation????????????
Yeah, we have one of those traveling monster buck "wall of shames" here in WI as well. The sad part is that it was from one outfitter that ran operations here in southwest Wisconsin a few years ago. I think it was called Blue River Outfitters. They finally got busted, it was pretty big news. I'm sure there were some huge confiscations besides thevarious mounts.
