After all the years I' ve been bowhunting I gotta agree with PABowhntr:D!! But the one I' ll never forget is the huge ten pointer I had @ 10 yards:(! I hunted a hay field that night & I got there right after work & he was already out! I seen him at the other end of the field by a tree that was blown over a couple days before. I climbed into my stand and watched him as I sprayed some tinks & got ready for him. I grunted a few times once I was ready & he turned & went into the woods to my right. He was about 100 yards away when he went in. I thought he was gone when he went in! Well about a minute or two later I heard 3 or 4 grunts coming from the right side of me inside the woodline. My stand was about 15 yards from that side. When I looked towards the grunting I could not beleive my eyes, there he was walking right into me! He never knew I was there!! Well needless to say he came to 10 yards of me broadside & I thought I had a wide open shot[:' (]! Well as fate had it I released & my arrow was going straight at the boiler room when just before it got there my arrow shot straight down in the ground right under his shoulder. Talk about being sick after that, my arrow hit a twig that I never even seen sticking out & I even looked before I took the shot & I could not see it!! He was the biggest buck that I' ve ever had a shot at to this day! One thing I can be happy about after missing him was at least my deflected arrow did not hit him at all[:-]!! If I would have wounded him & never found him that would make me sicker then missing him.

I missed an 8 point broad side at 25 yards for the same reason you did....

He walked right under my stand off to my right about 25 yards not stopping..I grunted at him and he circled back in front of me......I was standing by now and shocked that I actually chaged his direction and he was about to present me with a perfect target. He stopped 25 yards in front of me and I was able to draw almost fully. I had not noticed that my arrow was laying on the riser shelf, and the broadhead hung on it causing the arrow to become unknocked 1" from full draw!
I let down easily but the Buck walked off at the same time........

I now have an arrow holder to keep the arrow on my rest...It works good...

I would have to say anywhere from 5-10, I try to block those days out.

I missed a doe my first year and missed a 8 point 2 years ago. I was glassing across a field watching the 20+ deer in front of my brother and looked to my left and there he was @ 20 yards. I got buck fever real bad, I shot too quick and sailed one right over his back. That miss still HUANTS me today! AAAGGGHHHHH! These are the only two deer I have released on! I bummed out all over again!

Off hand 5 that I can remember. Who started this post of sad memories? Well as long as we learn by our mistakes.

I' ve missed quite a few over the years including 3 this year but I sure have *not missed* a whole bunch of them too. :D

3, but 2 were my first year and I was duuumb :D

When I first got into this fantastic sport back in the 70' s, I missed more deer
than I will ever admit too. But as the years roll by you really learn from all of
your mistakes and now I look back at the early years and laugh my ass off at
all the deer I scared the crap out of. Now, I pitty the poor deer that walks by me.
