Default what do i do??

so this year i have decided to go bowhunting for whitetails. i have never hunted whitetail's with anything else than a rifle (witch is always more than 200yd's). but bowhunting is closer range witch mean's that deer can see and smell witch mean's it is harder to get them closer. so i am wondering what you guy's do when hunting as far as call's and scent's?? and what about salt block's. i live in missouri where it is legal.

Do you have a bow? Have you shot a bow? You mention you've only been rifle hunting.

If no, I don't think you should beeven thinkingof bowhunting, this year. You need to get a bow, and practice. You will fist need to come proficient, and this will take some time. One of the biggest mistakes people make is taking the bow to the woods TOO soon.

well shoot alot as for scent there are a few ways to go one. the costly way. Is scentlok You will find many bow hunters hate the stuff say it does not work. but many will say it was made by the hand of god.

Scentlok is a active carbon type clothing. active carbon absorbs odor. It can get costly i know people who wear 1000 dollars worth of it in the woods.

The second option which is a must even with scentlok is first wash your clothes in a scent free hunting detergent. Then store them in something air tight.
Second take a shower not a bath with scent killer soap. they sell shampoo but i shave my head for season and just use the bar soap.
Then use the scent killer deodorant. Then wear some kind of clothes even bluejeans to your hunting spot make sure there washed with your hunting stuff.
Change into your camo just before heading in the woods.
Also get some scentkiller spray i like the freash earth scented stuff.

I have not got calling down yet but if your new to it like me get a set of rattling antlers. a promos bleep can. and maybe a grunt call.
Scent is very important. You must be scent free.
Also one big if not the biggest is wind
If the wind is not in your face turn around.
this link shows all the scent a way stuff you can get it all at walmart or any place with a hunting area pretty cheap and it works great .
