RE: take a load of this!
Hoyt.....jumping him was not good bro. stay away until Oct 4th and you may have a shot at whatever it was blowing at you. As far as the rub goes, I have to say I have never seen a deer do that. The branches that are left really puzzle me and there should be shavings on the ground. Aside from that, I do believe there are deer in that area that are capable of rubbing big trees. But whatever you do, don't go back anymore!! Let cool down and wait til Oct 4th!!:D

GMATT,
If I put him down within 75 yrds of his rub line, I will begin my smack talking. I understand there are a nation of hunters on here with their opinions and beliefs. Im gonna say nothing until he is on the scoreboard. Landon, You were probably right, but he was passing and was on the verge of crossing the fence and creek. I know he never saw me, maybe winded me, but Im not gonna even dream about that place until mid november. GMATT, Im wondering if you could take a picture of one of them NC squirrel rubs, or one of the likes. I would like to see one since you seem like you know what you are talking about. Tomorrow Im going to change cameras and put one near the rubs. The other one is near the place I saw the bear last week, and there is another rub line there as well. I will take a picture of them to see if they are just bark falling off or a disease. It may appear as if I dont care about others comments, but they are not standing beside it, examining it like I have, so no hard feelings for me giving you grief. I love learning new things and I understand there are different scenarios and climate differences, but I see no differenve than the ones from 25 yrs of souting except the size of them. I could be absolutely off, but my senses tell me im on. Sorry for the pictures of bark falling off!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

RE: take a load of this!
Well Im not an expert by no means. But I have some interesting points to bring up.
1. Why did the deer rub around the whole tree? The two pics are of different parts of the tree trunk. 2. Why did you take a picture of a different side? I think you can see the "rub" going all the way down to the ground on the oppisite side of the 2nd photo. Ill just post both them pics so you can all see what Im saying. This is the first pic he posted. ![]() This is the second. ![]() And one more thing. I am almost certain that you posted this rub a pretty long time back. I think you actually hung your keyring on the branches to show the size of this rub. I looked for this post but could not find it. |

I'll post up some rub pics from around here.....but they're nothing like that. Deer made these (j/k, but dude....let it go!). Here's a "typical" rub for these parts... |
