How to rough score a deer?

O.K. You are in the stand. A buck walks out. How and where do you get your measurements to figure out how big he is? If the rack is between or out past the ears, tine length, points. Where does the comparison come into play on figuring out just how big/small the deer is?

At this point in my hunting career, I don't need to add up inches to decide whether or not I shoot it. If it's legal, and I really want to, I'm gonna be shooting.
But of course I try to add up the inches (tine length first, then inside spread.) (I normally don't worry about circumfurance, just because it's hard to tell)

If I have a good size deer come out, I will take a shot. What I'm getting at is, I'd like to say well I seen a good 130 deer. Just something where I can kind of guess.
