Good story for us to read at your expense. Too bad you have to deal with such BS. When we first moved into our place which has many acres of woods where I hunt mainly, one of the neighbors down the road told heused to bowhunt down on our property all the time (without permission) and showed me all the trails, which proved to be true so at least he was very helpful. He also helped me track a doe I arrowed last year. But before that, one of our other neighbors clued me in to that he also shotgun hunted on our property (which adjoins the other property)and set up not 50 yards from him on a bucket on the ground, knowing he was so close in a treestand.

I can't stand trespassers, especially whenhunting, but doing drives when trespassing really gets me. It's like, thanks for screwing everything to he double hockey sticks for the rest of the season. Last year, some trespassers got out of their trucks did a drive on the neighbor's property, probably fired 20-30 shots in a couple of minutes and left empty-handed, effectively ending my day as the deer went underground for a couple of weeks. Luckily I scored a few weeks later when shotgun season was over. This year, they switched our gun season from being two seasons, a two day and then four day weekend to a continuous nine day season, so I'll have to be extra vigilant. I like to hang orange vests and caps in my treestands so people don't come down our road trying to road hunt, which has happened.

Since I live next to these people, and he is my garbage collector, I figure I should remain civil as long as I can. Eventually, they will catch on and things should get better. Another stupid item is they used to have quite a bit of timber themselves, but sold the big trees and bulldozed the rest to have more land to plant hay on. They don't have livestock themselves, but figured the .60 per square bale would bring in more income. While they were doing this, I got permission to hunt 810 more acres with exclusive rights to 400 of it by being honest and friendly.

Side Note: There are a lot of really nice people down here too, I just got a couple of neighbors who when the good Lord was passing out brains, they thought he said trains and decided to just let them pass.

EI was just being thoughtful for all the crap I am going through right now and NC was just trying to brighten my day up with a little smack talk.

I consider both of you friends and I want you two to kiss and make up! Just don't take photos! I'd have nightmares for months on end from that.:D

AF Hunter, that is a really classy way to handle it and nice that you are considering the non-hunting aspects of your life and how they play into the whole situation. Too often, people just react with something like "G_d D_m, this is my land! Mine! Stay the H_ll off it!" Versus what you did, knowing what this guy is doing is not right, but keeping your cool, even extending and olive branch and after he broke it, rightfully yanking it away from him. Good work.
