First kills of the season...
Two mature doe with one arrow (long story) at 51 yrds.

Ok..Ok, but I will make it quick!

I had just pulled into my driveway and grabbed the groceries from my car...as I was walking to the house I see this doe watching me from my back yard garden...the garden they destroyed earlier in the year!
There is a stream and about20 yard strip of tall golden rod and briars seperating my yard from the garden.

I made my way into the houseand grabbed my bow...walking through the house and out the back door. Once in the back yard I could see ther was a total of three doe. I waited for them to go back to browsing throught the garden and made my way closer. Once I got within 50 yrds I realised that I couldn't get a shot at the biggest doe through the golden rod but to my left there was a clearing that i would be able to shoot through. With the largest doe looking at me I stepped slowly to my right while drawing back. as soon as I had her in the clearing I threw an arrow at her. just as I released she bolted and the deer that was farther to the left and about 5-6 yrds behind her jumped straight up and kicked like she had been shot!...Now I was confused...I shot at the lead doe and she acted likeI didn't even touch her and the second doe acted like she got hit good, running like she had been hit in the shoulder...What did I do...how did I miss the first one?

I made my way to where they stood and low and behold, I had 2 good blood trails...
It turns out I got complete penetration on the lead doe (through the chest and out the belly) she ran about 60 yrds and dropped! Ok, time to track the second one...she made it about 140 yrds across the back field and dropped at the back fence row.

The arrow passed through the first doe and traveled about 6 yrds and hitting the second doe in the chest between her shoulder and the sternum...It penetrated about 6 inches through her esophagus and into her chest cavity.

So there you have it...it was not a shot to be proud of, but it happened, and they will feed my family for the winter!
