RE: Thermacell a gimmick?

mosquitos and gnats in my ears and landing on my hands and arms I just cannot stand.
What? Those mosquitos feel good, I thought you were tough:DJ/K. They are the worst. I hunt around thousands of acres of crops, a lot of rice farms close by. The mosquitoes will drive you literally crazy. I remember times when I ALMOST wished I was dead so I wouldn't feel the thousands of mosquitos biting me.to answer your question, if the thermacell cost $150 and I lost mine I would buy another.

I usually have very little problems with gnats but this spring we had a horrible invastion of gnats, they were everywhere for about 2 weeks. I went fishing one day and used my thermacell but it didn't even bother them one bit. That was my one and only experience with it and gnats.

Good luck.

Am I the only one that still hasn't reached a verdict on the thermacell? Just recently purchased one and took it to the camp when we were fishing. We sat outside one evening and turned it on and the skeeters were still bitting even with it on,there was a little wind so maybe that was the problem,so I haven't made my mind up on it yet, going to give it another chance.

If the Thermacell works as good as the Coleman Insect Lantern thing, Im buying one, or two or 3 lol. The coleman buglantern works great, we use that when we go fishing. I think im going to buy a thermacell for bow hunting though.

If there's a little wind you have to place it strategically upwind. 99 percent of the time there's an optimum location with a little breeze. One time it may be on the ground or floor and the next time it may be on a table or chair or stump or something to get it up a little. It has to be laying flat to work right. I had one table lamp wear out. I guess the orifice plugged a little and it wasn't getting hot enough. I took it apart trying to clean it but couldn't so bought another.
