Thanks, I HATE you guys for that!!!! I'd just LOVE to be heading out west this year, but $$$ and family keep me home.

Hate to hear that for ya, Doug... but in all honesty, I'm hoping $$ and gas prices will keep a LOT of guys home!

i have a question for all you elk hunters i never been able to figure out...when you shoot an elk so you quarter it up in the woods or do you drag that hulk out of the woods i think the answer is obvious but i have been wrong before.

I know people who have dragged them out with 4-wheelers (yes, they were from Missouri [8D]) and even some that loaded them up into the back of their truck beds (Yep, Missouri boys again ).

I plan on quartering mine.

I can completely understand what you're saying. I had no intentions of going this year anyhow, with a 4 and 2yr old around the house, it's just a bit too difficult for the wife for me to leave for 10-12 days. I was planning on a trip to your homestate for WT but my buddy that was gonna go had to back out due to some issues in his family, so we'll see what next year brings.

Perhaps, I should rephrase that... I hope everyone gets to go except the guys who were planning on hunting the unit I'll be in!

And I understand the family thing... I'll be leaving a 5-year-old and an 18-month-old at home with Momma. Other women we know try to get her to give me a hard time, but she'll have none of it; she tells them I provide an awesome life for them all year long, and she gets to stay home and be their Mommy 365 days a year, so why should she begrudge me a few weeks here and there for my passion? Like I've said before... I've got an awesome wife.

I'm sure you do as well... Hope things work out for you next year.

Archery elk hunting...absolutely nothing more magical!

General archery season opens here in Oregon on the 30th.... only 10 more days!!!

Someday ill hunt for these monsters. Its a dream of mine.
