Some pretty solid choices here..I can make a case for virtually all of them!

I can however rough it without the water, compass, mapor thermacell, in my neck of the woods.

If I'm going in absolutey bare-bones with just what you listed plus one more, it's having the game cart in the Jeep where I'm parked... 275-lb. deer don't drag tooeasy for a mile.

Good call... I can always go home and get the cart, even if it is an hour's drive.

The flashlight HAS to be there.

I would say thermacell butyou dont give a time of season so assuming i would hunt later in the season i could leave it at home so ill have to say compass. i hunt the national forest in michigan and it is easy to get turned around in the dark or when tracking.

Grunt tube.
If I had to add only one item to the list, absolutely a grunt tube! More specific, my River Valley Deer Flute.
