Default 2008-2009 Charity Thread

In '07.....If I remember correctly..Rybo had a brainstorm...and the idea was pitched to Justin by a few of us to provide us hunters with an avenue to donate to our respective charitable organizations, based on our hunting goals for the season.

I have no idea how much money was donated, last year, but I know there were many who participated.

For example.....I initially pledged $10/doe harvested by me.....with a caveat that I would donate $200 if I was fortunate enough to take THE buck I was after during the '07 season.

Keith Southern's (Farmcntry in the HNI forums) organization ...... Youth Outdorrs Connection was the recipient of my contribution. If you don't know Keith....or you're not familiar with his organization.....take a minute to get to know him/them.

http://www.youthoutside.org/

I'd like to think I speak for everyone here when I say that we could do worse with our money......and if the consensus is that this is a worthwhile cause (read ANY charitable contribution).....I'd hope we could get this going, again, this year.

Thoughts?

I will donate $10 per doe harvested and a dollar for each point anybuck I shoot scores... I will be willing to donate to that charity, Catch a Dream, or any other that everyone here agrees on.
If I happen to shoot my first P&Y buck, I will double my contribution to the charity.

I'll go in at $10 per doe and $1 per inch of my two largest bucks. Hopefully, I'll be donating at least $265 for the bucks alone

I was thinking about this the other day and wondered if the idea would come around again.

I was also trying to think of ways to maybe get more folks involved, and maybe do so in a less public sort of way. Some may not feel comfortable broadcasting to the world how much they want to donate. Besides having numerous charities too, I'm not sure how this would all be done. But it would be kind of neat to just have one number at the end of the season/year that said HNI members raised $XXX amount of dollars for charitable organizations. I think something like that would look very to others and show that hunters really are good people.

Agreed, Rybo....and again.....great idea (last year and this).

I don't see the need to list amounts publicly, either.....but a good list of organizations would surely help.

I would be part of it if it were more organized (sorry, not offereing my services) and uniform in the name of HNI. IMO having everyone donate to different charities like last year is much more a personal thing instead of being an HNI thing. This year we raised $95k for St Judes Hospital on tradgang which I was a part of.

i agree i think there should be a forum like the contest forum where everyone signs up. we agree on a charity such as catch a dream.
I really would be OK with any pro hunting org. that helps bring people in to huntingorhelps keep our hunting rights safe
