RE: Fletching own arrows

Been fletching my own and also cresting my own. I never have problem with my vanes coming off any more, because know they get done right, and with enough glue. Always ran into problems with dealers and arrow fletching. Fletchings were always coming off.

I have been fletching my arrows for a long time. Dont know if it saves money, I just like being in control of the quality of the fletching job, color choices, plus its a great hobby. If you do happen to tear or nick a fletch you can repair it pronto and have the arrow ready to use quickly.

been doing mine for a while with a bitzenburg. i just love to do it.l plus i can test several different combos like length of featthers/vanes, helical, and i can get all my hunting arrows to within a 1 gn tolerance by matching the fletching.

Fletching your own can save money in the long run. You can also be in control of the quality and consistancy. A third point is that it brings a matter of personal pride that you made what you shoot. If you are going buy a jig, i would recommend a single jig as apposed to a multiple jig epecially if you are fletching a helical. The only way to be absolutly certain that all of the helicals are consistant is to do them on the same jig.

Absolutely. The more self-sufficient you can be in this sport, the better off you' ll be for it.

I fletch my own arrows and on carbons I allways install the inserts myself.I like to install the inserts with slow setting epoxy and spin test each head.Alot of broadhead flight problems are caused by improperly aligned inserts. And on carbons it' s hard to re heat them and turn the inserts without damaging the shaft.
