Which state would you move to?

Assuming family wasn't an issue and you werefinancially able to do so, would you move to another state just so you could better your hunting prospects? If so, which state?

I'm curious how many are happy where there are and how many would be willing to leave their home to have a better place to hunt.

Montana in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even have to think it through.

RE: Which state would you move to?

Any state that doesn't get snow. Im thinking New Mexico, Elk and Couse Deer (SP?). Lots of four wheeler trails there too, plus your never to far away from cheap labor.

RE: Which state would you move to?

Honestly, I would move somewhere that offers a better chance of obtaining a largeamount of acreage. Somewhere with lower land prices. The size of a deer in a given state doesn't mean squat if you can't hunt them.

I'd much rather have solid access to 'average' hunting land than have to drive by and gawk at prime land.

I’d have to do much more research, but off the top of my head would be Idaho, Montana, or Missouri.
2nd tier Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Iowa

i would move to another state where u can hunt more than one big game animal like montana

RE: Which state would you move to?

I would leave Illinois in a heartbeat for any state which offer just as good (or better) hunting AND that took care of their resident hunters instead of catering to NR hunter the way Illinois does. Plus no Blago, that is enough reason right there.

Honestly......I'd move back to the coast and resume inshore/offshore fishing.

Hunting whitetailswouldn't be a factor in my decision.

I'm with you there, My wife hates the cold, but if she ever left me for younger, cooler version of Sooner State Hunter, I'd be there in a heartbeat :D

Montana would probably be my choice if hunting were the only consideration. Obviously, I don't live in NY just for the hunting, nor would I ever move just for the hunting.

RE: Which state would you move to?

Moving in the not-so-distant future is a real possibility for me. Illinois has been ruined by Chicago politicians.

Missouri is tops on the list. (because I can't get too far away from my mom in case she needs something)

If I didn't have to drive to Chicago on a regular basis then Utah looks good. North Carolina is pretty nice I hear... but I've never been there. I would like to be closer to the ocean.

Dolphin? There are laws against that aren't there? I am with you though (minus the dolphin). Salt water fishing would be my9 month a year passion (leaving 3 for hunting)if I lived close to the coast. I love my annual trips for tarpon & cobia.

For hunting I would move to CO. MT is too damn cold! They had snow in the middle of June!!! It would really be a toss up between the east coast and the Rockies.

What many call a "dolphin" or a "porpoise"is really a bottle nosed dolphin.

I'm actually not even sure if it's legal to fish for them or not. I can tell you it would be FUTILE!:D

RE: Which state would you move to?

As far as quality deer Im content here, there are plenty of them in 130-170 class. Now as far as people, I would move in a second if family wasn't an issue. I love Old Va, 20 yrs ago. Way less people than now, but now it is rediculous. We lost the farm to developments, and it is happening at record pace all around. If I had to pick one, I would say Missouri. Climate is sounds good, not too cold not too hot, plenty of big bucks and seems to be an all around good conservative state with lots of farms left. Second joice would be Iowa.
