Shooting w/ Eyes Open?

So I was setting up a new sight tonight, and got to thinking, I usually have shot w/ both eyes open. I grew up shooting trap/sporting clays competitively and shooting w/ both eyes open was automatic for me. Well tonight I started shootin w/ my left eye closed (right-handed shooter) and I think it improved my grouping, but more shooting will determine this. I mostly started because I changed my set up and it was no longer comfortable to shoot w/ both eyes open.

Anyway, how do you shoot??

I think your supposed to have both open, but I have to have 1 closed or else it will screw up my rifle form. Rifle CLub is the BOMB>

Both open.

It allows more light in, thus allowing me to shoot longer.

Plus, the vision in my right eye has started to slip, so much so that when I close my left, everything further out than five feet becomes blurred.

I shoot with my left eye closed. I tried shooting both open, and I can't do it.

EDIT:

I don't completely close my left eye. I "squint" my left eye so I can't see much of anything, only a bit of light can come in. And i also believe that my right eye is only slightly dominant over my left. Sometimes when I go to look at things closely I will look with my left or some times with my right. But when I look through a camera it's always with my left. Weird.[&:]

I shoot with both open and no peep sight. Just a kisser button. Works great for me.

I'm of the belief that if we were designed to do ANYTHING with one eye closed we would only have one to start with.

Generally a person who shoots a bit better with one eye closed on the range has an eye dominance issue. (left eye dominant shooting Rh or vice versa)

That person would be better served just slightly squinting down on that dominant eye vs closing it entirely.

When you shut one eye you mess up your depth perception, light gathering and balance which isn't the greatest combination of things to be taking away 20ft up in a treestand.

Shooting with one eye completely shut is maybethe LAST thing I would recommend any shooter do unless they are sitting behind a scoped rifle.

I shoot with one eye closed. Like Matt / PA said, I have eye dominance issues. I shoot right-handed but my left eye is dominant. If my left eye is open, it is impossible for me to see through my peep and line up the pins.

Bow, pistol, rifle, shotgun...All should be shot with both eyes open...Hopefully if you are right handed then you are also right eye dominant...

Same thing here, but my right eye is my dominant eye. So i don't know what the deal is[>:]

it just came natural to close my left eye i guess i never really tried with both eyes open but i think that would screw me up more than it would help me, i dont know
