RE: Would you be in favor of?
ORIGINAL: Lanse couche couche I'm even in favor of people being permitted to sell deer meat if that will help thin them out in some places. |
RE: Would you be in favor of?
I'd pay $5 extrafor a tag if there was no cost for "donating" a deer. The butcher who I give my deer to charges $60 per deer.[:@] Theyjust have to be gutted, that's all.

RE: Would you be in favor of?
id even pay $5 for a program like that. I donate alot of my deer meat to people I know personally, but heck I still quarter and debone it first. I may not even utilize the program but still wouldnt mind the extra 5 bucks to support its cause.

RE: Would you be in favor of?
In MD, when you buy your license/tag, you can also donate to the Venison Donation Program at the same time. I do that and I also donate money to FHFH.

RE: Would you be in favor of?
up until last year we could donate but we had to pay for processing. I did it a couple times. as of last year, processing is paid by the state. you can also donate money when you buy tags but they've never asked me about it. i think tag prices also went up $1 to cover the cost. the huge controversy in minnesota is that lead fragments were found in donated meat. much (i believe MOST) of the donated meat was discarded last year. it's a very big topic in minnesota. the whole future of the program is up in the air right now. mine was an archery kill, i'm sure it just got thrown away too. what a waste.

RE: Would you be in favor of?
I would for sure!

RE: Would you be in favor of?
i got a better one for you allow a hunter extra tags to kill does as long as the meat goes toward the hunters for the hungry program.
Or maybe if a hunter donates say 3 deer they get a second buck tag |
RE: Would you be in favor of?
Ivoted yes!
But in GA,processing isalready paid for via GA Hunters for the Hungry program. They just have to be field-dressed. Unless something has changed and I don't know about it. I have been known to donate deer in the past on a very good year and pay for the processing. I think it's a small price to pay IMHO. |
RE: Would you be in favor of?
The buffalo were an example of unregulated market hunting. No problem if you issue a certain number of market tags on a justified need or lottery basis. Lots of furbearing animals are currently hunted/trapped exclusively to sell their fur and we haven't seen them going the way of the buffalo.
The simple fact of the matter is lots of people love to shoot deer, but far fewer like to eat the meat. What do you think happens to the meat off those does when a trophy hunter participates in an earn a buck program. I am for whatever it takes to keep all that meat from going to waste. |
RE: Would you be in favor of?
Most people in missouridont realize that funds are available for processing that will pay for it when the whole deer is donated. Last year missouri hunters donated almost 5000 whole deer. aprox 1.4 million pounds of meat total was donated.
