Hidden Enough?

This is about the only straight tree with no low branches that i can get my climber up into that is located around this spot. I am up in between three trees that all come together at the base. My only fear is that there is not enough cover behind me to break up my silhouette. I am thinking of adding some camo burlap along with some branches nailed to the back of the tree. Last time i posted a pic of a stand location i got beat to death because it was too in the open.

Looks great. As the fauna disappears, though, you may want to go higher. That looks like every place I hunt.....and I hunt exclusively from a climber.

I would just make sure you go high. I bought this product last year that I think easton or eastman made it and you connect it to your stand. Basically, it provides a rectangle camo cover, which mostly conceals you.

My buddies thought it was a gimmick, but when I got in the stand they couldn't see me.

You'll be fine! That's more background cover that I have on 95% of my setups and I don't have any problems as long as I am not moving. If I don't have any background cover I hunt higher and I try to be at least 17 feet even if I have good cover. But that's a good looking setup.

That looks good to me. Heck, I have killed from stands that all logic says I shouldn't have. If you want a little more cover thoughgo to Wal-Mart or a craft store and buy some of the fakes vines or branches that they sell with leaves on them and then just zip tie them to your stand. Now you have cover wherever you go!

Youre fine, I use less cover than that in some of my stands and only at 15feet and have been very sucessful. play the wind right and youll be fine.

looks like a great set up

you might want to go higher or to a new spot once the leaves drop

Nice setup! Between 2 trees and has a third in the middle. Most areas that is about as good as you can do.

FWIW, this setup could possibly be better if you hunt from the backside of one of those two large trees
and angle the stand where you can stand and shoot through the middle.

Of course this all depends on where you expect the deer to come from.[8D]

Well actually there is a heavily used trail behind me on the other side of the ravine about 25 yards away and in front of me is my tripod feeder at 20 yards. So whichever way i face is really the same thing.

Wow you must be bored. But yeah it looks good. Hav fun moving around.....hope a deer doesn't come in undetected BECAUSE YOUR BUSTED!!!

I have read and re-read your post a thousand times stabnslab_WI and i have no idea what you are saying. Can you maybe re word that for me?

When do you hunt b/c come fall all those leaves will be gone. It will work....... just be ready and don't move when deer are close. Your gonna have to be sly but I think it would work well for me.;)
I have open area stands and stands in thick pines that are blackness behind me. All work.

And stabnslab_wi.........you must be bored b/c your post confuses me[&:]. You just put your hopes in another hunter maybe 1000's of miles away in NOT seeing a deer. You must think he is going to shoot your deer[X(]

Great idea...... I did this for bear and worked well. Just remember you limit the shot angles that way.

I'd be happy there...You're up high enough.

From my expereicnce, the question should be what do you think. IMO if you have confidence in your setup you'll pay attention to your movement and be more alert. If you're not confident in it you fidget more and are more likely too get busted. So if you like it, go for it. If not, move.

Personaly, I like your setup.

Its called DRY HUMOR!! Im saying you have no cover what so ever. If a deer comes and you don't see it. Allllll Immmm sAAAying is have fun trying to move around without the deer seeing you. If you still don't understand what I wrote then im helpless to you.............Or was it when I said you must be bored, all I ment was you must have a lot of time on your hands to climb a tree and take a pic from a deer eyes view, Hence "who you must be bored"

What the......I don't understand how my post didn't make sense. Now I don't understand what you wrote. You just put your hopes in another hunter maybe 1000's of miles away in not seeing a deer. So your saying I hope he doesn't see a deer. When did I post that? You must think he is going to shoot your deer. Ummm yeah I really think he is going to shoot my deer 1000's miles away as you put it............Just curious did you guys finish school?

I must be bored, because it's almost 12:30 and I'm still on the computer. I would go up a little higher. It looks like there is a little better cover about 5 or 6 feet higher. How high are you in the picture?

dstubb 08-04-2008 11:51 PM

RE: Hidden Enough?

Yeah, stabnslab you nailed it. I climbed a tree and then down and took my own picture. Why not, sounds possible to me. It's not that hard to do when you hang a stand and your buddy has a camera in his pack. Being a graphic artist it took me literally less than a minute to upload and convert it to grayscale. Why does every post that someone creates have to have some ___hole like you show up. It never fails, you could start a thread about a relative that past away and someone like you will drop some smart ass comment and try to start something. Every thread has one and you are ours, CONGRATS!

that color of photo you used to post makes you blend in and if deer see that way then you look like you will be ok.

RE: Hidden Enough?

Where do you expect the shot to be, in front of you? If so I'd swing around and use more of the tree to hide you. Hard to tell though, looka good from here. What pattern is that?

Nothing wrong with a lok-on and rails.

dstubb 08-05-2008 07:18 AM

RE: Hidden Enough?

I expect the shot to either be in front of me where the picture was taken and i also expect a shot behind me as well. As far as the pattern i am wearing goes it is just some khacky shorts and an old Cincinnati Reds T-Shirt. I will be wearing Realtree AP this season and i also got one of those mesh 3D pullovers that might wear. Depends on how much of a pain in the butt it will be to put that on over my gear.

Seriously, my first post wasn't so bad, I gave you input and you didn't like it. As far as the pic goes "I was wondering how you took the pic and being in the stand at the same time"....Im not retarted. Calm down, relax, grab yourself a coke and think about climbing more trees with no leaves. Oh I guess Im an __hole by nature.

Yeah, i agree your first post wan't bad and i didn't take offense to it because i couldn't understand what you were saying. I simply asked you to reword it because i couldn't understand you and that's when you took offense.
