Depends on where you hunt beardstowndeerhunter. If you hunt private proprty without alot of pressure, you probably don't need to be much over 15 feet. If you are hunting spooky deer, I would say 18-20 feet.

I'm not one of the "Higher is better Gang" I only go high if the terrain demands it. The angles become much harder at 20+ feet. I usually find that tree limbs become a factor at that height also. Gimme a nice tree that I can get 18' or so and I'm content. I do have on of my better spots that I go 23-24' but it's near a ridge. I have to go higher in that particular spot.

I think you need to be higher than 13 feet. It's going to be harder to get away with movement at that height. Not saying you can't kill a deer at 13 ft., because you can, but you had better have some really good cover. Most of my bow stands are 20 to 23 feet. My highest is 28 feet.

I hunt in my ladder stand at 12' and I have no problems that I know of anyway but you can't see the stand in all but one direction until you get at the most 25 yards.
When I am in my climber around 18' depending on where the cover is and what height allows me the best shooting lanes.

My Dad will still say things like that to me. I say, "ya Dad, good advice"! Then Iput on my safety vest and go where I feel I need too.
