RAGE Broadheads
I need a few reviews...I am pretty much set on getting them but I would like to know if anyone has anything positive or negative to say about them. Our hunters last year used them and I fell in love with the way they destroyed the vitals. These things looked like they tore stuff up!

RE: RAGE Broadheads
I'm gonna suggest you do a search on the forum.
And this has nothing to do with you.....but for some reason....this head can't be discussed (in this forum), strictly by people who have experience with them. For some reason it attracts detractors who've NEVER used it......like magnets. How someone who's never used THIS mechanical head can hate it SO MUCH.....is beyond me. Peace....and good luck. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in my take. I killed 8 deer with it, last season. |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
Oh no you didn't!!!!

RE: RAGE Broadheads
What's the name of those? Rage?? I've never heard of them, I don't think anybody here uses them....
|
RE: RAGE Broadheads
I have shot 1 deer, 1 warthog and 1 Impala with a rage 2 blade.
The damage was outstanding. All 3 pass throughs, large blood trails and easy recoveries. |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
Belowwas my experience with them. Disclaimer, I did not have a chrono or scale with me to with me to test KE and I didn'ttest the kid's (I say kid, but he was in his 20's) bow to see if it was tuned (sorry):
I have only seen them used on one occassion personally and it was not a good outcome. Perfect shot placement for a double lung taken at 40 yards on a large whitetail only got one lung, not enough penetration. The deer was broadside and the kid was hunting from the ground. The deer was not found. Theperson was using a brand new Bowtech and carbon arrows (not sure which one's). Sad part was that he had fixed blades in his quiver also. I asked him why he didn't use the fixed blade for such a long shot and his reply was that he thought he had enough KE to get the job done, and everyone told him so. I saw the actual deer cross a field in front of me while my friend and I were eating lunch. We watched him jump a fence into the field. Thethen crossed the field which was at least about 500 yards. We took note of where it went in. It's entrance wound was blatant, and the deer did bleed very well for the most part.We found small pieces of lung tissue on the trail. I never saw or met the kid that shot the deer until he was looking for it. We saved him a bunch of time by taking him to where the deer went in.We also helped him track it for about mile mostly uphill. The deer never bedded. I am definetely not one to judge what a person should use and I give no opinion on the head, only my experience. |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
whoops....lol did not mean to make this a debate thread if thats what it may turn into. I didn't know that there was such a debate with them. I appologize for anything that may be sparked here. I didn't know that there was a thread about them. Sorry.... :(

RE: RAGE Broadheads
I knowwe butt heads on here... (Ive been attacked for being from Pike Co. IL!!!!) But I had no idea that RAGE broadheads would be the cause! haha

RE: RAGE Broadheads
Steven, it AMAZES me that you say you had issues with it when you were trying to use them on 50 pounds and like a 26" draw!! The issues you had with them, were self inflicted. You should know better;)
I shot a doe with one last year and it REALLY impressed me. The most damage I've EVER seen out of a broadhead. You could jog down the bloodtrail. :D They'll be in the quiver this year but so will Slick Tricks. I'll probably shoot a deer with the Slick Tricks, just for comparison. (Assuming I get an oportunity) |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
never used them, but heard mostly goods things about them. the pics from GMMAT and a few others show lots of damage that's all I have to go by. good luck!
|
RE: RAGE Broadheads
I might be the only one who used the 3 blades last year :). I killed 3 deer with them, all pass throughs, with no problem. The damage was nasty and they died within 40 yards.

RE: RAGE Broadheads
I have shot several does with the Rage head and also the Rocky Mountain Snypers. All deer recovered but like mentioned above the penetration does seem to be an issue. I have never not had a pass thru with my set up shooting a fixed head. With the same set up 70# bow and acc's three does I shot didn't get full pass thrus. They were broadside and it should have blown right thru. Don't know. Having said that I will use the Rocky Mountain Snypers (Rages Daddy) again. Exspecially on turkeys, They are perfect for turks. chris

How could you possibly know where he hit it if you didn't find the deer?By the way, a 2" hole through even one lung is going to keep the deer from going a long ways if its not pushed right away. |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
Same old story, perfect hit, should have been a double lung but it's the BH's fault . How could you possibly know where he hit it if you didn't find the deer?
As stated I knew exactly where the hit was because I saw the deer perfectly. Once again, maybe try reading more closely. ;) |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
Answered in PM Slayer...
Good luck;) |

As stated I knew exactly where the hit was because I saw the deer perfectly. Once again, maybe try reading more closely. ;) To me that sounds like blaming the head. And seeing a deer run across an open field doesn't mean you know exactly where he hit it. Finding the deer would tell youwhere he hit it. Looks can be deceiving on a running deer. |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
I'll be negative on this but I never had any luck! Shot Two pigs last year (BIG BUCKS) and got no penetration. First of all.....I hit bone on both bucks and bent the tips on both rages,Duh! that is why I got no penetration. I shot one of the bucks during gun season and it had about a four inch cut on the shoulder from where I shot it during bow season. I do think they are good broadheads but I'll never use them again. Have seen mixed reviews on them but more good then bad.

RE: RAGE Broadheads
I have had nothing but good luck with the Rage 2 Blade broadheads. I shot 2 does last year, both were pass thru's and I watched them die. The only thing that I could say negative about them is that sometimes the blades don't stay in with the rubber band holding them, they tend to open up. But They devestate whatever they hit, I could practically put my hand in the hole that they made!!! I know nothing about the 3 blades tho.
|
RE: RAGE Broadheads
The 2 blade you should be fine but the 3 blade sucks rocks[:'(]
|
RE: RAGE Broadheads
And seeing a deer run across an open field doesn't mean you know exactly where he hit it. Funny how people love to twist things to meet their aganda. I only gave the experience, not an opinion. ;) |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
to quote someone I know... "I like Rage broadheads, they have a huge margin of error so I don't have to be as accurate."
|
RE: RAGE Broadheads
Bob I read a thread silimar you yours at AT a while back.
Deer shot from a blind, ran a long way, and did not pass threw. If my memory serves me correct the kid was shooting around 50 FT.LBS of KE. Thx for sharing |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
Put a security rubber band on the outside so 1. they do not open early, which they have a tendency of doing. 2. I would only use them on deer or animals of similiar thickness. Something thicker, they (2-blade) have to much drag and do not get great penetration. Yes big hole and lots of damage, but only if you have a pass through. With such a big diameter like the 2-blade, always a risk of not passing completely through. I use to hate them bc I had a couple open on me early. I have since changed my mind to ahh they are okay(after adding extra rubber bands). Theres better, theres worse. But you will have your rage heads on here that swear JC gave them to 'emhimself. [&:]
Curious how many people work/sponsored/affiliated with Rage on here?? Seems like a day doesnt go by without seeing a thread about Rage broadheads, and seeing the sheep get in line to worship them. Just my 2cents. |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
just about everyone on here uses them or muzzy's
|
RE: RAGE Broadheads
This is typically the place people come to let off steam about things going wrong in their lives.
It's refreshing to have an avenue to vent, like this. Many a non-believer's dog has been spared kicking because they had these threads in which to spew their hatred. Viva la rage.....thread! You serve a valuable service to the community.....and the SPCAsalutes you for it. |
RE: RAGE Broadheads
^^^^^ haha nice LMAO come on GMMAT not even a lil tired of seeing the rage thread, even if you are a shooter, arent you tired of typing the same old, "I love them. Their holes are so big. Bla bla bla" Sounds like a title for a bad adult movie.
