tommarows the opener! (Updated page 4) getting closer!
 

4Well guys, Tomarrow is the opening day of bear season over here in Oregon and I found a watering hole and I put my trail cam over it and there is a nice boar comming to it along with a couple of other nice bear. I have my tree stand set up 18 yards from the watering hole and it looks like it will turn out to be a good spot! The night picture is kinda hard to tell what they are but it is 2 black bears. One is to the right of the camera and the other is to the left of it.

Looks like a great spot! I wish i could hunt bears, but thats just not possible in Ohio ;)I like it that your hunting over a watering hole rather then bait, seems more fair to me...IMO

Yeah... I like it better to! Also Oregon doesn't allow baiting bears.

I see we have a few seasoned bear hunters commenting about baiting bears not being fair. Or maybe some of these people haven't bear hunted before. Unreal!

Like you said Kyle, we would be screwed in every which way if we couldn't bait in Minnesota.

Way to go after them sans the bait, man. That'sGOT to be achallenge! I couldn't imagine how scent free you'd have to be to fool THAT nose (without the aid of bait).[&:]

im startin to not like missouri, we can only hunt deer and turkey....BORING plus in the summers it gets to 100 degrees every day and in the winter its below freezing pretty much every day..........o yea, sweet pics and good luck

Buck bomb sent me out some predator bombs so I think I will spray some on the tree next to there to keep there attention down there.

I honestly don't know what I would do if I saw a bear. Never seen one in the wild. Id probably crap my pants! and tuck myself away somewhere and cry like a baby...

Well guys... It almost worked out!

I was sittin in my tree stand for about 45 minutes when I hear crunch crunch chrunch there was somrthing comming towards me so I knocked an arrow equipted with a slick trick broadhead. Then I stood up in my tree stand.And it started walking againbut it was just out of sight. But it sounded like a deer but I kept watching anyways. Pretty soon I see this black thing working its way through the brush. So by then my heart is about beating out of my chest but it was still at about 60 yards out. Then it stepped out in the open and I could tell it was a mature blackbear and it appered to be working its way down the hill. I thought it would go down the hill to the trail and then come up the trail to get a drink of water. So then the thing walks down the hilland stops for about 8 seconds at 50 yards. I could have shot but I didn't wan't to take the shot sinceI was shaking so bad. So I passed up the shot but then instead of comming to the water it just walked streight down the hill and I never got a shot off. But it seemed pretty good for the first time out! I hope I have better news tommarow!:D
