How do your wives/gf's feel about your addiction?

We don't talk about it much here, probably because this is where we come to get away from em for a little while:D, but what do your wives or gf's think about all the time and money you spend on hunting? I have a serious g/f I've been with for over a year, and she will more than likely be my wife one day soon as we are nearing graduation, and the real world. But she doesn't understand why I love the outdoors and hunting as much as I do. She respects it, and lovesthat I have a hobby, but of course I have to hear it when I'm gone all day. She asks so many questions, (just like a woman), about why I was gone so long, why I didn't "catch" anything, what I did all day, why she has to wash my clothes in scent-away,haha.Do your wives/gf's like to go with you every now and then, wake up andfix breakfast just for you at 4:00 AM, or sleep late and care less about what you're doing? Mine sleeps, then wakes up and calls every 30 minutes askin if I've "caught" a deeror turkey yet and asks when I'm comin home, haha.

My wife knows it's part of "our" life...and always will be. Before we were married years ago, the subject was discussed in depth and clarified...now days she is just as serious about hunting/outdoors activities as I am...

RE: How do your wives/gf's feel about your addiction?

My wife complains but she gets over it because she knows its a part of my life and its my time to unwind after a crappy day at work. She gets to sleep in and take over the bed so she doesnt complain too much, and then if I get one I have to call her first because she loves to help track. She doesnt liek hunting but likes to track and go along on deer drives during gun season. And I respect her decision not to hunt.

My wife is 100% supportive.

She gets up on Saturdays & holidays (in season)....and I get in the bed of the truck.....and she'll drive me down the road to my entrance point into the woods.

When I get home......She waits for me to shower.....then wants me to sit down and tell her every detail of my hunt.

She goes with me to blood trail.....and she's damned good at it.

When she asks me to do something important to her.....I do so without hesitation.....in season or not. She doesn't take advantage of this, though. We have "balance" in this.

Everyone should be so lucky.;)

Why does it seem that women are so good at foloowing a blood trail. My wife and past girlfriends have always been great at it.

Yea i had a gf once that would always ask if i "caught" something. being the smart @$$ i was i would tell her "i was hunting not fishing honey".
But my wife now doesn't really agree with the money i pend but i just let her go shopping a couple extra days and let her have a girls night out while i watch our daughter and dont ask any questions or care how late she stays out and it keeps the peace. now she will even help track and drag it out and even jump in and help field dress.
I got it pretty good.:D

My g/f is only beggining to find out. She has already been putting up with the time I spend shooting my bow, and running to the shop/store and I was already spending a lot of time in the woods. Last weekend I got into a new lease and there is a lot to do and learn so I told her she is going to be a deer widow from now till season ends. And thats the end of December. Hope she waits around for me. Hmmmmmmmmmm, does make it seem like we care more about deer then our women. Food for thought.

I actually just hit a Milestone with my wife! She came to me early this summer and asked me to buy her a bow! She said she wants to share the expierences that I love so much together! I was floored! So I ran down that day to my buddy Scott's Archery shop in West Michigan, Bullseye Archery. And I bought her a Diamond Edge Package. And let me tell you, she is shooting very well! She will shoot a deer or two this year!

My wife wasan outdoors kind of gal befor we got married. 36 years later, She is a Fly Fishing Guide, Rasies, trains and sells German Shorthaired Pointer Pups, can outshoot with a Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun or Bow most men I know (won alot of beers over the years from men with Big Egos for me), and fills her deer tags most every year, only thing I do is help her set her stands, she does her own scouting.
Ha..I have a son in law that calls about this time of year when the bow hunting deer bug hits, He spends most of the time talking to her!

So I have never had that problem.

My wife loves bowhunting. We got married five years ago and last year was her first year bowhunting. I bought her a bow and all the goodies to go with it. She is like a buck magnet when shes in the woods!! She is hot, and loves bowhunting, SHE'S IT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: How do your wives/gf's feel about your addiction?

After 16 years with mine and two kids later, she is getting into it with me. She has pretty much always known that it was part of who I am and has never really given me a hard time about it. I have always tried to get her involved in hunting with me, she has a bow and really enjoys shooting but doesn't get too much time to shoot (kids). The last few years she has really started showing a lot of interest in hunting with me but we still have one little one that she gets to stay at camp with, this year she is going to try to get her first deer with a rifle. As the kids get older I see her getting even more involved as life allows...

My fiancé doesn't mind. Very rarely do I have to put up with any kind of complaining about going and doing any kind of hunting (only if I go to the lease 3 weekends in a row). She will occasionally come on a bow or turkey hunt. Heck, she has killed a couple herself;)

My wife has been putting up with it for 19 years, as long as I do not hunt Thanksgiving or Christmas Morning it is a non-issue

My wife has known I've been this way since we met. Sure she gets mad at all the money I spend and wants me home more during hunting season, but we work through it. This year she is asking me to pick out 2 weekends where I won't hunt and be around the house with her. Considering I'll start beginning of September and wrap up at the end of January (until spring gobbler that is) I think that is a fair compromise.

When she gets antsy and starts calling me on stand I remind her that the quicker I can fill my tags, the quicker I can get home.;)

RE: How do your wives/gf's feel about your addiction?

My girl has been great about it over the last 10 years. Our first fall, I warned her that I probably wouldn’t see her for the next 6 weeks, unless it was on a Sunday or a really bad rainy day after work. She accepted that, and then what do I go and do but shoot a buck opening morning. I told her it’s not normally like that.
Anyways she understands more about deer & hunting than a lot of actual hunters I know. She’s gone on a blood trail before, and usually helps me process the deer. I never get a serious complaint about any money I spend on hunting or the time I devote. I work hard to balance time for ‘us’ along with time for hunting. She will complain a little when it comes to the TV never leaving the outdoor channel, but otherwise I have it pretty well.
She has no desire to hunt herself, but likes to fish though.

My wife is very understanding during hunting season, but in the off season she expects me to make it up to her. I try real hard during the off season to spend evenings and days off with her and the girls.

Kat supports me 150% She hunts, and Loves everything outdoors including fishing.

She would never ask me to do anything during hunting season she knows and understands thats my time, and she hunts with me when she can. She also holds down the fort when I am away. Some of you guys may have even talked to her on the phone a time or 2;)

She is quite the Southern Belle!:D

I have a great understanding wife when it comes to my hunting. My wife loves the outdoors but she could never shoot an animal. She does like to fish though. She goes to deer camp with me sometimesbut does not hunt. She eats deer meat and is not against hunting at all.But I think after my 3 1/2 month long season is over she is glad that I will finally be at home. Well at least until turkey season starts...LOL

The g/f doesn't give me too much grief. She knows better! She gets anything she wants when she wants something, If she would start to complain about my hunting time or the money I spent on it her being spoiled all the time would come to a halt as well.

My wife hates hunting!! She is the definition of an anti hunter, in part thanks to her crazy mom. [:-]

If I'm watching a hunting show and she comes in she will leave because she can't stand to see any animal get killed. I then ask her how her cheeseburger was the day before. ;)

Seriously, she understands that its important to me, so she doesn't comment much about it. However, I currently have all of my mounts at my dad's house. [&o]
