Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Do you think it was the IR flash that spooked him or could it possibly be that it was making some slight noise? I really don't know. I have never used a Cuddeback so I am just asking.

I use a reconx that ocasionally has a red light come on while taking a picture but I have never seen it spook a deer. And that observation comes from sitting on stand and watching deer react to it before daylight while hunting.

I'm sure its the IR lights Jack, I've seen it happen before with these cudde's. Is yours an IR? A guy just told me that Reconx makes one without the lights.

It doesn't have any lights except for an occasional brief and small blink of red light. I don't know why or what triggers it as it only comes on randomly and infrequent. But it does come on from time to time.

As I said, I have had been on stand when deer go by and the red light blinked and they either didn't notice at all or just briefly looked that way and then went about their way.

However, it does bother me somewhat as it appears to me that it has the potential tospook a deer.

I had always wondered why such a high number of IR photos still had the deer looking at the camera. That video appears to prove that they know something is there at the very least.

Schultzy,

That camera is the Reconyx RC-60. I have the RC-55. The RC-60 has a black IR instead of the red IR. I have been told its range for nighttime has been cut to about 35 ft. But would but nice a realno glow or anything.

I have that camera from Reconx, it's the Primos Silent Image. I do love the unit, although it'svery pricey. The problem is that it spooks mature deer as well. It only flashes red light(IR), but it seems some deer don't appreciate it very much. This was a huge let-down. I thought I had bought the best camera on the market.

There is another make of camera out of Cabelas that takes pictures with no help from a light source. No flash, no red IR illuminators, just night pictures......unfortunately I can't remember the name of it.

Here's an image of a decent buck that was captured last winter....he didn't stick around for the 8x10 glossy.[&:]

In any case Shultzy, that's some beautiful footage, and good luck with him.

AR Bowhunter, I hadn't heard of the RC-60. Is it new? I guess my camera must be the RC-55.
