Default Best week to hunt Poll

Those of you on this site that know me know that I only get one (1) week to Bow Hunt each year. I live in Dallas but hunt in Bear Valley, Wisconsin. For this reason it's fairly important for me to take some time to pick the best week possible. Last year I chose the week from Oct 31st through November 7th. I was unlucky and hit a really warm spell with winds over 25 mph almost each day. So I'm asking each of you to identify where you hunt (State and region) and tell me whichweek you would pick if you could only hunt one week, and why (you see the most buck movement oryou see the bigbucks moving, etc.).

South Dakota. Nov 9 - 16

Most crops will be out and it will be transition time from pre-rut to RUT.
Rifle season starts the 15th I believe here.

In my region of Pa, I see the most rut (best time to hunt)activity the last week of Oct, and the first week of Nov. Again, this is in "my" region of Pa.

In MO, I'll take that Nov. 3-10 time frame every year. So I voted Nov. 2-9.

I would much rather hunt the late October very early November period. The bucks are heavy into pre-rut activities. They are easily called then and the big boys are not yet locked down with a doe in heat. The mature deer are cruising and checking scrapes etc. still. As the rut picks up,and the chasing begins, you will likely see more deer but if he is with a doe the chances you will call him are small and he will likely be running. Also, around here, the mature bucks will often lock down with a doe for 3 or 4 days and keep her out in the middle of a big CRP field etc.Good luck killing him then. Most of my best deer have come either pre-rut or post-rut. Dont get me wrong, I love hunting during the peakand watching the chase/breedingphase but it isa harder time to actually kill amature deer in my opinion. This is all assuming that you are trophy hunting ofcourse.
